  1. Personally whilst the AAAC sets e benchmark it is my opinion the iso9001 is a better one to go for , the arb approved contractors are plentyful now where as before it was a way of getting a couple of steps in front of the competition. I might be wrong but councils or anyone can not insist the contractor is AAAC but has to work to those standards.
  2. Too soon for riddor as said is now 5 days
  3. A policeman mate of mine commented earlier in the summer that this is when rural is less because of fewer darkness hours and crops in the fields to hinder them , this certainly seems to be the case , in the last month or so it seems to have increased .
  4. If it was not for trees falling apart every now and again we would not have alot to do
  5. Mate of mine uses the call out excuse to go spending time with ladies of the night , hes gonna be knackered by the morning:thumbup:
  6. We had something similar recently with ecologists , we had flagged some trees on a site to come down the ecologists did a survey and offered to price to get them down , biggish customer with quite an impressive property portfolio so needless to say we were there within a couple of days and got the trees down before they even had time to price them , lucky in that respect. But it does seem there is no respect for other people who have agreements or such like with clients, And if people say "well business is business" that the biggest cop out going we could all shaft the local competition if we wanted to .
  7. Too true Marc, looks like a good investment , you would never lose money on that one:thumbup1:
  8. Caravan Utilizing Nomadic Travellers loving that , hey Python if you are on call perhaps we could do a deal re fly tips , we might be able to up the call outs for a small fee
  9. Reckon the guy might be up for a deal who knows ? Moorbark wood chipper 2 sets of blades instruction manual 25 hp kohler command engine | Devon | Gumtree

  11. Eagle plant have a tracked jenson
  12. Agrimog you are mistaken if you think assessors are not actively employed in timber cutting or arb work , assessing is by no means full time work and what do you think these people do when not , polishing their chainsaws. Yorkshireman what a cracking idea , could be like food standards guys , checks made and if things need working on perhaps a revisit
  13. Dont get me wrong I have in the past dropped my price a little to match a quote that is the benefit of being the last there but for 5% difference surely most customers will go with who they liked better.
  14. TCD what you need is a lad
  15. This has come up a few times recently by two different companies locally , both are quite aggressive with advertising . I was wondering what people have to say about this ,are these people desperate for work ect or what happens if they go against each other does the client get the work for free.
  16. I dont want to derail a thread but it is interesting the way we accept finance and overdrafts ect as a way to ultimately earn more money , so someone should tell the students to stop whining because there loan in no different as a way to a means to earn more money. (thanks rant over)
  17. Next couple of days will lead to more work. Pm Me
  18. Tomorow please needed
  19. One of them things , if he broke it being an idiot then hem might feel he should pay a bit towards repair or replacement , if not wear and tear , things sometimes break its part of work , they dont break sat in the shed so accept it.
  20. Due to increase in workload I am looking for various freelance staff from climbers who are capable of quality reductions and experienced with rigging also 2nd climbers who are perhaps starting out looking to improve. Am based between Tiverton and Wellington. anyone interested pm me please
  21. The situation has now been resolved , he has apaarently agreed with the customer he will not do any tree work and will in future discuss any situation of this kind that may arise at a bit more length with me . It does appear that every trades men that turns up at this property from the carpet fitter to builder has a brother that can do tree work but she is happy for me to continue with the tree work and other deveg works. As for the drive the topic of the customer in question came up on the way so seemed perfect timing . Also thanks to you all for putting my mind at rest .
  22. Am liking the response thanks people, was really disapointed when I found out and this guy does what is asked works long hours at times and hard and paid well for this help. We have a over hundred mile journey in the morning a perfect time for a chat.
  23. Jamie I think you have hit the nail on the head . It is not the sort of work I do but had discussed with this guy I could possibly send an apprentice up to split logs on days when I am doing other things. Certainly has changed the dynamic at work now.
  24. Self employed and no log splitting is not the sort of work I have time to do , but as a buisness might be something I could do is provide this service. What my major concern is if he is there with a saw and the customer asks for other work to be done where does this end .Also the lack of comunication regarding this.
  25. Situation is a guy works for me aprox 3 days a week has got rather cosy with on of my regular customers ( large property owner) and it turns out he has been there splitting logs for them . I have even mentioned to him I had not heard from them in a while and he says nothing .
