  1. That's what I was talking about MD. Great piece of kit apart from in the snow or heavy rain. Used these when I worked on Grid.
  2. Impulse laser. Again pricey but does all the work for you and pretty accurate too (0.3m at 200m iirc)
  3. can't stand peltor fittings, prefer msa ones less likely to get caught up in stuff.
  4. They got a good write up in the hort week kit test. The D67-720 looks a nice piece of kit at a nice price as well.
  5. Why not use tree tubes rather than spirals? Creates a micro environment and keeps the rabbits and any other grazing animals out until the top shoots are above the top of the tube.
  6. The APF is a trade show which members of the public can go to but I bet 90% of people there are pros ergo why bother displaying a system aimed at occasional users?

  8. try and get hold of a copy of Spons which is a landscaping pricing book which is published every year and gives a breakdown of prices for every job from planting to felling and pruning.

  10. Forestry seems to have a bit of a recruitment and retention issue with an average age nearer 40 and more and more reliance on machinery. Maybe concentrate on your ground tickets and go down the forestry route. I'm sure some of the forestry lads will be able to advise you better (and shoot my theories down)
  11. I have a br600 and actually managed to lift up a yorkstone paving flag whilst blowing a path; only lifted it an inch or so but it was one of the old 4'x2' and about 1" thick.

  22. I think this is why a lot of the bigger consultancy firms have arborists and ecologists on the staff or sub-contract in; works as a kind checks and balances system ie if an ecologist isn't sure about a tree id then give the arborist a bell and vice versa with regards to flora and fauna.
  23. Just looked on CSCS site and used the card finder and entered chainsaw operator- arborist and it said the occupation was now covered by the LISS scheme which is overseen by BALI.
