  1. Villager are more of an open fire in a box than an actual stove. We have an aarrow boiler stove, its been pretty good but it does annoy me that if you allow the ash to build up a bit,( as you should for wood) it falls out when you open the door. Can't fault it otherwise. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  2. I have used a bobcat 325 a fair bit, impressive machine, better than the equivalent jcb. Kubota engine too. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  3. There is a massive difference between a self employed and on the books groundie. With all your ppe paid for, and paid holidays, sick leave, and a regular reliable wage you can afford to work for less. £150 a day is 40k a year! I'd have to double my prices to pay 2 guys that much. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  4. Is it like the butter story? TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  5. deffo michorrhisal Dean. the fungi brealing down detritus in the soil releasing soluable nitrogen / nutrients which the grass can absorb. I have seen similar around "fairy rings".
  6. That's what's always put me off the TW, the bearings and flywheels look really light. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  7. last year in that cold snap around christmas time I had to take a blowtorch to the fuel lines on the chipper, it started fine after that.
  8. Follow the strap from the bow shackle to wher it dissapears under the waist belt, tighten the strap to put more weight on the leg loops and loosen it to put more on the waist. play around with is and see what feels best. Do you wear the waist belt on or above your hips?
  9. If you have a harness with the adjustable link between the loops and the bridge you can set it up so they don't ride up, I can on my treeflex but it slowly slips so that after a while it needs adjusting again.
  10. I tried one with a wafer thin bar and a micro chain on it, like a pole pruner the other day, very impressive, cuts fast!
  11. I haven't used the other two, but I have been amazed at the longevity of tachyon, seriously hard wearing. well worth the money IME
  12. I think there has been some confusion here.... FTA Online | Operator licensing rules and regulations at fta.co.uk
  13. Thanks for the replies, I use a soft core wire flip so maybe it will be ok, I'll just have to try it.
  14. one end has a fat crimped metal stop, not an eye, about 20mm thick, reckon it would go through?
  15. Is it possible to dissasemble to fit onto a flipline with spliced ends?
  16. I am still likeing my smock, Waterproof Field Smock - Country Covers just wear a t shirt underneath when climbing, not too hot not too cold... quality stuff.
  17. heights don't bother me much, I used to get disco leg when I started but that was more when felling tops out and dropping big limbs. heights alone have never been a problem. Not that I haven't been beaten, last year I had to remove a hanger from a lime, it was tall and positioned on a banking so the branch I had to walk was about 90' from the ground, I just couldn't walk all the way out on it, it was wet and slippy and angled downwards, I couldn't bum shuffle out as I needed to be standing to reach the hanger. I got it down in the end by one handing the topper and removing the branch it was hung on. i think acclimatisation is important, i free climbed some big trees as a kid, 60 - 70 footers right to the top, higher than I would go now probably! but then I only weighed 6 stone then. find a nice clean tall tree and climb it (with another climber there as well). if you are scared spend some time up there get used to the feeling, then when you are back on the job it won't seem as bad. The highest I have climbed is 180' i wasn't scared but it was a shock when I saw someone on the ground and realised just how high that is, 15 storeys at least. really glad i did it, I doubt i'll ever work on a tree that big.
  18. have you tried checking the "govenor" on the carb? It should allow the engine to reach max revs under no load but dump more fuel in when under load. If you watch the side of the carb (if visible) while someone else operates the machine, when loaded you ought to see it move, if it is stuck try some WD40 or similar.

    Will Aid

Well worth having, you can nominate executors who will handle the will, so you can pick someone who will know how to dispose of your business for the maximum reward. The last thing I want is my family being ripped off by someone telling them that my valtra is only worth £10k for example.
  20. You've done a crane dismantle. I only did my first one the other day LOL Got 2 more to do now though:001_smile:

    Will Aid

Will Aid This month you get good deals on wills and it goes to good causes. Worth thinking about, especially if you have kids, even more so if you aren't married. We're doing ours tomorrow. A friend of my wifes lived with her long term partner, he died suddenly, without a will. His family took the house and all the stuff that they had bought together, it was really nasty, they kept turning up and helping them selves to things from the house, sending solicitors letters to get her evicted from her own home..... it only costs a few quid and could save your family loads of heartache if you croak.
  22. Nice work Rab, bet you glad you got that new chipper.
  23. That's not off roading! pic 6 looks just like my drive. Lol. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  24. These are the vids only 2 pics, wrong way up..... TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
