    357xp value

I've got one I'll sell you for 250
  3. Just a thought Tom but how about a purpose built roof box? With some integral ladders built on the sides just behind the doors, you could get a fair bit in 14" high box and in terms of it affecting the handling... well with that chip bin on her I don't suppose she corners like a lotus anyway. It would be a whole lot easier and cheaper, and easy to swap to another landy if you bought one.

    A taste of BC

Great vid Reg, lovely stuff, Were the ones being topped out just for space to fell the stick?
  5. I find that the BBC forecast is quite good IF you watch it with the sound off. Basically what the forecaster is saying is the forecast for south east england the graphics are usually much more accurate, i'd say 80%. So for the last few days they have been all smiles and happily telling us how hot it is despite the fact that it has been cool, cloudy and wet here. I also find it annoying when they spend the first half of the forecast telling us what the weather has been doing!! We know!! If they dispensed with that they would have more time to give a more balanced nationwide forecast.
  6. If you hire a tractor from a farmer you could be added to his insurance, you could pay whatever that costs.
  7. Loved the stuff on the big euc's
  8. Can you still open the sunroof when they are upside down mike?
  9. I try and leave buttresses if I can, usually lining them up with the direction of fell if possible (one big buttress either side of the gob) this gives you so much more lateral stability, which is important on one sided trees felling at 90deg to the lean. Plus the only trees big enough to require dovetail cutting are usually compromised in the centre (in scotland anyway) so if you remove the buttresses there is a good chance that what you are left with may be crap wood that won't hold when you need it. Buttressing is fine on timber plantations when you know the inner wood is likely to be solid but on old growth be careful.. i have seen it done, buttresses removed only to reveal air where the hinge should be. like others have said take your time.. you could stick a wee spirit level on your bar and hold the saw till you get level, then try and visualise that position for future use.
  10. Very nice frank, ditto stevie on the grapple
  11. I love em. I have made £00000s off them over they years. Might not be the most enjoyable work, but its work all the same.
  12. I had a shot of Big J's 70cc makita today, I was impressed.
  13. Whats the line speed like stevie? compated to your igland?
  14. Farmworker unhurt as train cuts tractor in half - 9/26/2011 - Farmers Weekly
  15. i can understand the need for dogs when felling / cross cutting (I have them on both my 362's) but snedding??? BTW The 84" tree in my avatar was felled with a 28" bar, so us tree surgeons do know a few tricks:001_tt2:
  16. Most of the pto ones are pretty light and have a very low Hp requirement, you could pick up a wee kubota tractor or similar and get a pto one and still tow them both on a decent trailer. That would probably be the most flexible option.
  17. Its worth looking at a two vehicle setup, transit tipper+chipper and a landrover or other 4x4 that can tow 3.5 ton. my trailer is 1 ton empty, 3.5ton gross, you won't get all that much more than 2.5 ton on a 7.5 tonner. have your groundy drive one while you take the other. its a very flexible setup.
  18. You don't need an hgv liscence for4 a 7.5tonner. Just anything bigger.
  19. I was thinking about that, do they clip on to the jaws? or do you have to remove them?
  20. I didn't take any.. this is the ad. Valtra 6400 - Redlynch Used Tractor Sales
  21. Doing them in the wet shouldn't be a problem in your part of the world. Maybe you could block off the opening to the chip box with hessian or something to "filter" the air coming back out, might help a bit. I have never done one either, they are thin on the ground up here.
  22. Just got home. Looking forward to getting it back and having a play with it.
  23. I bought it. Anyone got a timber bogey for sale? TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  24. Got any pics of the job? I drove past there yesterday and noticed she was still standing.
