  1. Just a thought, you have tried pulling it with the chainbrake off? its just that if the clutch springs have gone then with the chain brake on the saw will appear siezed. Not teaching granny to suck eggs, just worth a mention. and clutch springs will be cheap.
  2. Thats poor, I'd start kicking up a big fuss and threratening them with trading standards / watchdog or whatever. have you tries searching forums? maybe its a common fault. If you cut a hole in the floor, remove the drivers door and the roof, you'd probably fit in a landy, problem solved.
  3. Be a good way of running a 6.5ton tipper on red, and 4x4 at that. shame no pto otherwise at that money I'd have one.
  4. These are being auctioned on Monday. Trucks For Sale, New And Used Trucks | Truck Trader UK There are two, the yellow ones are both the same I think, The white one says 6.5 ton gross. Estimates are around £6.5k No PTO but it might interest someone.
  5. Tempted to go out and buy another before they do. This move to smaller and smaller engines is not good for working trucks IME, They simply don't have the same tourque as a bigger engine, which is what you want for towing. The current defender engine is a great puller, but it doesn't have as much grunt low down as my old 2.8tdi.
  6. You need an indirect one. Choosing a hot water cylinder
  7. Just check the Ah rating, the type/size of the terminals, their orientation (ie both at one end, positive left, or positive right) and the overall dimensions of the battery. Then go out and buy one. Simples.
  8. YP has been a waste of money for years IME.
  9. The article says that a 26YO man was arrested and is on bail. Maybe the driver? Perhaps they just want witnesses?
  10. For knapsack work use 250ml in 10l. I was spraying today, and that is the dose in the instuctions.
  11. You will deffo need a vented system, if there is a power cut all valves must fail open so that the system can blow off. Its not that hard, you need a hot water cylinder on a gravity feed and a pumped CH circuit, you can fit a venturi type connector to ensure that the HW still gets some flow when the CH pump is on.
  12. A normal tractor isn't that slow. You will find a 10 minute car journey only takes 20 in a tractor. For longer journeys you will start to notice it, but locally it will be fine. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  13. Nothing wrong with asking. If we all stayed within our comfort zone we would all still be using bowsaws off ladders. I looked at a big contract recently, there's quite a lot of timber extraction to do as well as the arb work, I am out of my depth with this and so will be seeking advice from other contractors who do this work on a regular basis. AT is as you say here for you to ask questions, if you find some are disparaging its probably because they are resentful of any new competition, wherever they may be. So long as your questions aren't completely stupid, ask away...
  14. you won't get much more than 3 ton on a 7.5 tonner so you need 2 trips with that as well, it will take at least 3 hours to cut up the stick, carry it all out and clear up, blow etc.... so you are basically saying that you will have the whole thing down by 1 pm.. I doubt it.
  15. what truck have you got? there looks to be 6-8 ton in that, unless its 2 mins from your yard or you run an 8 wheeler.......
  16. £1200-1800. At a guess, always hard from a photo.
  17. If you look closely there are some extra wee pulleys so you can have a rope on the release mechanism too, they are usually colour coded and can be run into the tractor cab. Not on your mog though!
  18. How do you mean free spool? You push the lever upwards till it locks to release the cable if thats what you mean? Also you can re-position the pto input shaft if you want to get a better angle on the shaft; remove the plate around the spline and turn it the other way up, you will need to shorten / lengthen the drive chain. It has an adjuster link. I have the manual for mine if you want to know anything else.
  19. Looks like fun mate. That's the same winch as mine, how are you finding it? What size cable? TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  20. top notch stuff, the pinacle of arb work, great to see clients prepared to pay for that level of work.
  21. Those tropical hardwoods burn well, the crates that hold the indian paving slabs are good too. Also the chipboard blocks from the corners of some pallets really chuck out some heat.
  22. You need to find a decent old pickup, old landy or similar and get a trailer. The newer it is the worse the premium will be. You may find insurance is well cheap on a lada riva. Or for a wee van a suzuki carry is a good buy, cheap to insure and to run.
  23. I would Hazard a guess that at least a third of AT members are sole traders without any full time employees.
  24. how thin is the beech business card? Nice stuff btw, I have never heard of a oak chestnut hybrid before, do you have any more info on it?
