  1. You need to find a decent old pickup, old landy or similar and get a trailer. The newer it is the worse the premium will be. You may find insurance is well cheap on a lada riva. Or for a wee van a suzuki carry is a good buy, cheap to insure and to run.
  2. I would Hazard a guess that at least a third of AT members are sole traders without any full time employees.
  3. how thin is the beech business card? Nice stuff btw, I have never heard of a oak chestnut hybrid before, do you have any more info on it?
  4. They are good, but the diesels aren't great and the petrols are thirsty. We are thinking about similar, but my wife doesn't like the looks of the subaru. The Skoda octavia scout is well worth a look, we test drove one and were very impressed, its basically an audi a4 allroad for a lot less money. 5. Check out this one Tony. Not so beautiful now.... Only winding you up.... TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  6. Europe's oldest olive tree, estimated to be around 3000 years old. I happened to be staying close by on holiday in Crete last week. Amazingly its a graft, a heavier fruiting variety on a wild root stock , not daft those Minoans.
  7. Unless you go to a 4x4 specialist you will struggle to get any insurer to give you an "agreed value" policy. I have not had a write off with NFU but I have made claims and have always found them to be very good. They are flexible about using your own choice of repairer and also modifications to your machine. Today my van failed its mot on a cracked windscreen, I phoned NFU local office and told them that I had already told the garage to replace it, no problem they said just tell them to send the invoice here, £70 excess and no loss of no claims. For me NFU insurance has been hassle free which is IME worth A LOT.
  8. No need to take any bricks out, the 150mm rule is the minimum distance from a combustible surface. So if you do use the rear flue make sure you have 150mm of hearth before any flooring. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  9. Nice video, stick it on your website the instructional parts would be re-assuring to customers. BTW if you use a cow hitch for your pulley on the thinner stuff it uses more rope meaning less tail to try and get rid of.
  10. There's a thread on here somewhere...
  11. If you don't have permission to climb them I'd hold off posting on here untill you have either got permission or just climbed them anyway. Asking for others to take part in a trespass could get the forum in trouble maybe?? Not being judgemental, I asked for permission to climb this one: and was refused. We did it anyway. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/video-forum/6931-big-fir-rec-climb.html There are lots of sites with trees around the 60m mark, its findig the extre few metres that will give you the record. The one in my vid was 60m.
  12. If you can sever the stem and allow the stump to fall back into the hole, then grind as normal. Ypu may need a winch / digger to encourage it to go the right way. I'll second the 10 ton weight btw
  13. what days are you available normally?
  14. The N8 Is pants. My wife had one and hated it, I tried playing around with it and compared to an HTC ot Iphone it is next to useless. My fife has just got the htc wildfire, it seems to do everything my desire hd does but is smaller. The 8mp camera on my desire hd is good, the 12mp camera on the nokia is the only good thing on it. Get a wildfire and buy an slr if you are serious about photography.
  15. Was the central leader alredy gone? It seems strange otherwise not tying into that and leaving it to last. Good video:001_smile:
  16. It's full time. 5 days a week + very occasional weekends. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  17. Based at cockburnspath TD13. Full time Basic nptc's are essential, ie 31 for groundworker and 38, 39 for climbers, no need for any thing else. Other than that all I am looking for is a hardworking RELIABLE worker who can get himself to the above postcode every day. Salary is £15-20K Please get in touch, phone , email or pm. BTW if you are thinking of asking me to contact you then you are not the person I am looking for.
  18. Good pics Dean, just got back after a wee detour to meet my mum at a classic car show at Ripon TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  19. What we are forgetting is that the law has not caught up with vehicle design, the transit of 20 years ago may well have been dangerous at 4.5 tons, the transit of today is not. Mine has abs traction control and an engine capable of carrying the load. I take a common sense approach, if I felt that my van was dangerous I'd change it. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  20. Thanks for a great day to everyone involved, I really enjoyed it.
  21. Nice truck, whats the turning circle like?
  22. The winch was an igland4201 on my wee tractor. It was a pain on the big bits as the lumps weighed about the same as the tractor, we were using a snatch block to give an 8 ton pull, I couldn't park too close to the edge in case tha bank gave way and the tractor went in. The small bits were easy as I could park nearer the edge, with the heavy stuff the winch wire was cutting into the bank despite us trying to put logs under it.
  23. Afew of some big beeches we winched out of a river this week, some heavy lumps..
  24. Apparently young owls have a dust on theit first feathers....
  25. I've liked the 362, I have 2 of them, what don't you like? TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
