  1. [quote=Rupe; dog malting I wish i had your dog:001_tt2:
  2. Thanks for posting that. Sounds like a very worthwhile project to be involved in.
  3. You could look at it as the ideal "private" place to practice reversing on mirrors. On narrow trailers it helps to make them wide enough to see(in your mirrors)using whatever comes to hand at the time. Its a good life skill; show off when young & still be able to park when you're too old and stiff to look over your shoulder.
  4. Cor,that was an experience! Look at all that lovely C.S.34/35 training material:001_smile:
  5. Stihl chainsaw in the back of a Land Rover along with the terrier, the Haix boots,a bottle of non fizzy real ale,and the sight (in the mirror) of a northener in her Unimog on the end of the tow rope! By the way if I set up as 'Freds Firewood' can I run a fridge lorry on red diesel?:001_tt2:
  6. Check to see if you have your wading plug screwed into the clutch housing, might just need draining!
  7. Oh so true, hey ho for better times.
  8. Didn't get round to posting pics of my dog.Today I buried him, a much loved Terrier,I will miss him.
  9. Wrong sort of tree, now wrong sort of boat user in sight ,where will it end?
  10. Multi-way would be perfect,if lookouts could warn a string of brush cutter operators of approaching public it would make the job a whole lot safer.
  11. One of our local Land Rover parts suppliers put on their cards that they could be used as ice scrapers, still got their card and allways know where it is! Only works with plastic ones like yours though of course.
  12. Cold Turkey here,a week in the Duddon Valley S/W Cumbria,no mobile phone coverage. A whole week without arbtalk will I survive? :The last point of contact will be a look left as I cross the river Kent on the A 590 watching for Mr Ed and his merry gang.
  13. Yup as they said, speak to Justin:001_smile:
  14. Sorry to hear that,i'll keep an ear to the ground here in chippers.
  15. I have bumped into this on several Land Rover products. These days all I do is to take the flow and return pipes off the steering box and use an air line to back flush the box.It is no doubt dangerous and totally bad practice but seems to work.My impression is that this problem occurs after the vehicle has been stalled and the pump has "kicked back" Hope this helps :blushing:
  16. Is that Chippenham Wiltshire ?
  17. If a lifting machine is on yearly examinations is it legal to use it for man lifting during the first 6 months?
  18. 880 sounds about right. :001_smile:
  19. You lucky bugger! All right, I know that you well deserve your job.
  20. I was taught that the chain should snap back sharply onto the bar. After finding "Arbtalk" and reading other guides such as pulling the saw over a flat surface and how many drive tangs can be exposed,I found that the tension was about the the same with each. My tutor at the time said that I was probably running too slack and when I looked at my old saw the wear on the underside of the tip was there. He also talked about tension on solid noses and wear in sprockets making setting difficult,I listened cos he has been there and done it. It all is a bit subjective,at least now I am allways looking at the business end so well done Dave Grafton.:001_smile:
  21. I think that using bio chain oil and aspen in the saws is a cost effective way of demonstrating "awareness". To go bio on the digger would be very expensive. I know that gas oil is a horrible dirty fuel but using white or bio would hurt, and yet I can honestly say that all "new" plant is run to green standards.
  22. N.F.U. If you look after them, they look after you in my experiece.
  23. I looked into this a few years ago, the implications for design and particularly maintainance make it only suitable for industrial structures,so they say.Seem to remember "Latchways" as industry big players.
  24. Mine has a couple of three legged spring bungs in the front of the silencer, spring these out and there are torx screws behind.
