  13. i've been asked to find out what is meant by the ratio R/RR in relation to tree root systems? i can't find the answer in any literature or the net, so hopefully someone knows the answer to this one, many thanks, glen.

  15. you should always prune back to good strong growth points, never top or tip. just wondering are you doing any training at all for this?
  16. When i did mine i was asked a few questions on best times of year for prunning & different species responsies to different types of prunning so make sure you know what you're talking about, keep a cool head & take your time, also as mentioned above you can do this with just your silky
  17. Hiya, i'm back to Merrist Wood on wednesday for the first time in about ten years to study the Tec Cert, not sure if i'm nervous or excited but there's definatly something going on in the belly, anyway i am looking for any info about the course, whether it was enjoyable, i'm sure it is, how hard you found it, what to expect etc, for the last couple of months i've dusted off the old books & been reading around an hour a night, when i can at work, usually about half an hour & couple of hours over the weekend. Anyway any info about the course will be very helpfull, many thanks, Glen.
  18. Well done everyone for passing the written side of things & good luck for the management exercises, I am off to Merrist Wood in Sept to start my Tec Cert & i'm looking for any info that will help me out, I have access to all the literature i need & i have been reading books on arboriculture for years so hopefully it wont be too foreign, I'm also going to work with the local tree officer once a week so that should help me out as well. Just really want to know what i'm letting myself in for, many thanks.
  19. today the heat started to get ridiculous so i went and bought a camel back from the local mtb shop, holds 2 litres of water and seems pretty light, haven't tried it yet, does anyone else use them & what do they think of them, are they uncomfortable & get in the way when climbing?
  20. nice pics, love pine dismantles
  21. looks good matey
  22. nice job & nice pics, love letting the apprentices climb, especially on reductions, i tell them i'm in charge, your my tool, now go get out on the end of that limb:ohmy:, keep going, out a bit more:scared1:, just a bit further now:mad1:. love it:001_tongue:
  23. Haha, that's bloody brilliant matey
  24. After 11 years of climbing on a prussik i've now for the past two months been converted to using a vt & pulley, starting to get used to it now, climbed like a right newbee first off, well funny:blushing: definatly seeing the benifits in this system, especially as i'm feeling old lately
