  1. Hiya, just wondering when you worked for Southern/Bartletts where was you based? as i know a few people that worked for them down in Crawley Down, West sussex
  2. Aways use a half hitch then timber hitch, never seen it fail, or a running bowling if there's a stub.
  3. I've been doing this for 10 years & i've never had a problem dismantling a tree, work asked me if i'd like to go to wales for 3 days & do the coarse & i said yes please, if someone else is paying then i'm going. I'm not one for turning down a coarse & learning different techniques. I'm hopeing it will be fun, a new experience plus three days away from the missis & kids.
  4. Hiya all, i'm off to Beddgelert north Wales on a dismantling course with Treevolution on the 1st of September for three days. Just wondering if there's anyone out there that has been there & done it as it would be good to here about the course.
  5. Where's the top quality rigging then?
  6. mmmm, bet that tastes nice, wonder who's the first on here to order some?
  7. Now that is really pointless, that is no good at all, i know that you disagree with the way i reduced the ash tree that i showed on an earlier thread but this is work that i do not like, better off felling & replanting.
  8. Been there before. We were a million miles away & one of the youngsters drove it off a trailer & tipped it over in a dried up stream, managed to get it upright a few hours later then somehow got caught on a stump & pulled the track off. AAAH.
  9. Same as, i only use them on my saw strop now but if i were allowed to use them on my climing lines i would, it was alot easier undoing/doing up one handed.
  10. Very nice work, looks good:001_smile:
  11. When the Americans love your reductions
  12. Hi all, I'd like to say that i take pride in all my work. This is the way i was tought to prune back to. I make my cuts clean & correct in my opinion, I also know that every cut we make is bad for the tree, nomatter where we cut it, we all harm them. The customer is fully aware of how the tree will respond & it will be me she phones in a couple of years to maintain it at that size, I think we did a good job & the tree will be fine.
  13. Can you show me one topping cut, I know all the branches have been prunned back to good growth points:001_cool:
  14. I don't agree with the way it has been prunned but i think it looks pretty cool.
  15. Great vid & nice work, Thanks for sharing with us all, Good job:001_smile:
  16. I've been climbing with a treemotion harness for a couple of months now & it works for me, took a while to adjust it to my liking, very comfortable & i haven't had a squashed ball yet so all good, See if you can try before you by.
  17. Excellent! I'm gonna watch it again:scared1:
  18. Same as i'm not trying to critisise the job it's just that when i did my chapter 8 i was told that anyone working on a road had to where flourescent green hi-viz, His orange one is not legal for working in the road, If there were some kind of incident you would be in trouble.
  19. Another great video, A joy to watch, Just wondering though, One of your groundies standing in the road controlling traffic, Where's his hi-vis? Correct me if i'm wrong but that aint legal, If there were some sort of accident involving traffic, Wouldn't you be in trouble?
  20. I only use one for access, Certainly wouldn't work off one.
  21. Good job there, Tree looks really nice.
  22. I know a couple of people on rail clearance, All i can say is it's hard work, Nights & sundays:001_smile:
  23. you did a nice job there, Looks really good:001_smile:
  24. To me it depends on what species of tree it is & whether i think it has any amenity value:001_smile:
