  5. Hello mate i last saw Dan at Christmas time, apart from that i see him driving about town, Think he's doing ok, say hello to him for me, bet you can't wait to go boarding, especially with Dan, it'll be a right old laugh knowing Danny, take care dude & have fun.
  6. 80 footer in 20 seconds, with the help of the crane operator.
  7. Hello mate, back was getting better but we've been dismantling beeches in great bookham, surrey for the last 2 weeks & after yesterdays job i'm feeling it this morning, man them chains are heavy:001_smile: anyway here's a few more picies
  8. Yep my old 66, love it, tel lyou what though i was up the tree from 8.30 till about 12 & by the time i needed the 66 i couldn't pull it up the tree, kept getting cramp
  9. yeah i think they are a really reliable chipper, we have 5 tow behinds as well that we use on our transits, never had any real problems with them, the tracked chipper is awesome, just have to make sure you're on the left side of the hopper when feeding it, if you're not switched on it'll knock you on the floor with long branches.
  10. Had to take this little beauty down today in Stanmore Park Brighton for the Council, it was over wires & building, also it has a Bees nest in a cavity so we used a crane as to not disturb them too much, don't worry Bee lovers, everything was done correctly, not one was killed, i hope.
  11. Always used prussiks, can't get used to anything else.
  12. Hiya there, i passed my cs 41 a couple of weeks ago, i did 3 days training with treevolution then the test a couple of months later. All i can say is make absolutly sure you know everything to do with the swl of all the equipment you are using cause if you dont they wont pass you. The test took about a morning starting with all the usuall questions from the nptc paperwork to carrying out the different methods of dismantling. I had to do a couple of cradles, a couple of balances, tip ropeing, butt ropping, chogging down & knocking out two 10 ft sections, all good fun & if it's stuff you do everyday then you should have no problems, just remember the swl of the equipment you are using.
  13. count me in too please
  14. Very nice work Dean:001_cool:
  15. Just been reading todays newspaper & in there is a story about a man who chopped his left arm right off with a chainsaw while prunning his tree. His neighbour put the arm in a bag of frozen pasties & after 14 hours surgery they managed to reattach it & say that the operation went well. Now this got me thinking, Do any of us take cool boxs with ice packs in to work just in case a similer situation were to happen? Now & again my team & i work out in the sticks & to be honest i have never given it a thought.
  16. I like trees so much the wifey says i should have married one instead.
  17. I put mine in the washing machine in a pillow case or give it a good scrub in the bath.
  18. We've gone over to Aspen pre mix & we haven't had any running problems yet so at the moment a good move.
  19. I work on the local authority contract so if it's peeing down i can choose what to do, usually lifting or felling if it rains, if it's peeing while i'm in the tree then i just get on with it, i think we're all pretty used to the rain, just wear waterproofs & take my time. If it's really bad then back to the yard for a brew & maintenance.
  20. Hi Bob, could you tell me where i could get a harness for my boy, i was thinking about a rock climbing harness but not sure if it would be ok in the tree, thanks
  21. I slept right through it, don't know how becouse when i woke up it looked as though a bomb had gone off, Trees where down all over the place. I was 11 at the time & school was shut for 2 weeks, we spent the whole time up the woods playing about. My boss had just left his job & set up on his own a month before the storm hit, what a result for him but a great shame in the amount of trees we lost & also not forgeting the people that lost their lives too.
  22. I'm sorry guys but i forgot my camera, so did the other two guys, quite gutted about that as i wanted to take loads of photos & my phone is really scratched so you can't see anything on that. The course was well worth doing though, learnt a few new tricks that will make my job easier, the instructor Liam is an excellent bloke & made it a really good laugh but also very interesting, i highly recomend the course even if it's a refresher.
  23. Oy, why is there some people hijacking my thread, go get your own or else:001_tongue:
  24. Hello mate, Yeh it definatly was brilliant, Can't wait to go up there again, great fun & learnt some new ways of doing things which was all good, The drive home wasn't too bad though, left at 5 & got home 9.30 without stopping. Did you make it back alright? Anyway hope you have fun in New Zealand
  25. I have lots of hopes for the future, i've already done the kids bit, i'm a little worried at the moment though as i can see myself going full circle & being a groundsman again when i'm 50 then proberbly stacking shelves in Tescos till i die:scared1: I really should take it a bit more seriously & do something about it but i do tend to take each day as it comes.
