  1. Who taught you to prune trees this way?
  2. I was always told that if a tree is to be reduced(usually as a last resort) you should use thinning cuts and cut back to good growth points, keeping the overall shape the same if you can. Birch trees should only be reduced very lightly that only a trained eye could spot.
  3. What do you mean the birch tree looks ok, I think most people on here would agree that it is pretty crap, People who do that to trees should be ashamed of themselves.
  4. When we saw the Birch we sat there for 10 mins wetting ourselves,
  5. Drove past these two trees today, both are in front gardens, don't know how anyone could be pleased with them.
  6. Think i know who you're on about, yep alot of neck ache & shoulder burner. We use silky on a pole set now.
  7. Used polesaws alot on Council work a few years back, very usefull but i've seen some bad finnishing cuts from them as well.
  8. 361 all the way, or 441 great saws.
  9. Take it back & get it fixed, we've seen this problem a couple of times with brand new saws, you stihl can't beat it.
  10. I agree that ash are difficult trees to reduce. Quite alot of thinking involved with this one, This is where i use my groundies throughout the job. I think good comunication with two good groundsman is the key to make the reduction work. As long as the tree lends itself.
  11. Wheels not anything to do with us, school bus i think. Them buses are the way forward in Arboriculture.
  12. Hiya all, Just a couple of pics of an Ash Tree i worked on yesterday, A 20% crown reduction, Sorry no before pictures, Forgot, Wont next time.
  13. I've always cut where the two meet, I think the Tree Officer is wrong.
  14. Sorry dude never heard of either.
  15. Yep, what an excellent bloke, still see him now, He works for himself now. How do you know Danny?
  16. Worked for local council for 10 years, They re-evaluated everybodys jobs & you had climbers on same salery as litter pickers/gardeners, complete waste of money & time.If your salery went down it was frozen where it was for 4 years. Anyway, that council doesn't have inhouse tree surgeons anymore, we all left. Kcking up a fuss & appealing didn't get us anywhere.
  17. Hello all, Newbie here, What an excellent forum, Best out there.
