  1. It does sound a little worrying, but it's because they are coming down this way anyway they thought it would be a good idea to come & have a look. Hopefully it isn't too serious. The phone call was totally unexpected & I am looking forward to spending the day with them learning.
  2. Afternoon all, i've just had a phone call from a Helen Carter from the Forestry Commission Plant Health Team & she along with her colleage Ben Jones are in the East Sussex area next week & they are wanting to meet with me on site so they can do some tests so i will up date as soon as i have answers.
  3. Hi, i am affraid as of yet i have heard nothing back, i will give them a nudge today.
  4. Just to up date, Forest research at Alice Holt have now been notified & i'm waiting for their response.
  5. Cheers fella, i'm all good thanks. Life's pretty cool at the moment. Haven't seen you around for a while, hope you're well fella. I'll always remember the 'Old Tree Gang'. Great days fella! Saw Danny the other day, towing a right old dog of a chipper lol. Should catch up soon!
  6. Well done fella! A very tuff & stressfull day indeed! The 5837 oral threw me & it was absolutley chucking it down. Thank god i remembered to pack my carp brolly, without it i reckon i would have definatley failed. I remember glancing about every now and then to see candidates absolutley soaked, sheltering under trees & papers all soaked.
  7. Ah man! please don't ruin this with rudeness, We all know the only way to get 100% diagnosis is to send a sample off, Tony has said for me to do this twice & i will be doing this when i've been back to the site & met the client. I infact love different opinions, might be this, could be that, sharing experiences & knowledge. It makes great conversation, rudeness doesn't, thanks.
  8. I really appreciate yours & everyones knowledge & help. Big thanks to you all
  9. Ok, went back to the site this arvo & took some more photos. No evidece of mycelium or rhizomorphs, as you can see the 4th pic a lime, 5th pic an Alder & last a field maple are all ok & that's the same for the rest of them species throughout the site. The photos from today shows little bark loss if any but i think they're going to go the same as the others. The 6th pic is approx 8 ft up showing bark loss & it's the same for the majority of the oaks displaying them symptoms.
  10. I'm going to try & get back there tomorrow for another look & I'm going to try & borrow a decent camera as well
  11. They have none of the symptoms that are showing on the Oaks. All the other species looked ok. The trees have been planted randomly in two rows in three seperate fields & the majority of the Oaks are showing the symptoms shown in the photos.
  12. Sorry i should have mentioned them in the first post. There were also field Maple, Horsechestnut, Alder, Liquidamber, Lime & Ash. All planted about 3yrs ago.
  13. Ok going back to the deer damage then, does anyone know why they've only damaged the Oaks & not the other species?
  14. Lol Mick it took me three years to get through it, I'm obviously not the brightest chap
  15. I too thought it could be Armillaria but i couldn't see any fungal mycelium, i'm leaning toward the possiblity of it being Phytophthora
  16. Good afternoon all, i was wondering if any body out there can help me identify why these oaks are in such a poor condition? It's an area of 3 planted sites with approx 30-40 mixed species but it's only the oaks that are poor, any ideas? I have recommended mulching & removing supports from most of the trees. I know it looks like deer damage on some but the bark loss goes way higher than any deer could reach
  17. What's going on??? just had a look, Diagnosis of ill health in trees going for £500 & Principles of tree hazard assessment £290, i got all 3 for less than a £100 a couple of years back, now they're worth nearly £2000. Can't be right can it?
  18. I still can't belive it! It's such a huge weight off my mind now. I'm looking forward to moving on through a new chapter in my life.
  19. Hello Ian, i'm also in Crawley fella, could you give Paul Farrow a ring on 07711831560 at County Tree Surgeons Ltd. He may be able to help.
  20. Good afternoon all, Would like to tell the world that after three years of studying my nuts off it has finnaly paid off. I have passed all of the Tech Cert:001_smile:Just goes to show that quiters never win & winners never quit, I'm flipping well chuffed to bits.
  21. It's now confirmed down my way in Sussex, i have also learned tonight that Bartlett have apparently got a cure, it's licensed in the US but not in Europe. They were at a meeting today trying to get emergency permision to use it.
  22. Here's a good tip for you, get some training & do a test in saw maintenance, felling, snedding & windblown trees before it costs you your life. Also a first aid course would be handy. Sorry if i come across rude.
  23. I updated my iphone this morning & had the same problem, tap on the app but it did nothing, just got in from work, deleted the app then went onto itunes where it's all backed up, plugged iphone into laptop & downloaded it from there & it's working now, hope this helps.
  24. Hi, not sure where the examiners report is at the moment, i'll try & dig it out. Contact ABC Awards yourself & register for the management exercise as i have heard that they wont be sending invites? don't know for sure though.
