  1. Battle of the caterpillars begins, stage 1 put up 15 bird boxes. Complete Stage 2 will be install some feeding stations Stage 3 remove feeding stations when caterpillars arrive Stage 4 resident birds feed on caterpillars hopefully
  2. That's what amazes me about the general public, they criticize the the solution to the problem instead of criticizing the cause. The present government get all the grief for putting measures in place to put us back on track, the thicko,s then blame them for their current hardship and vote the cause of the problem back in to start the cycle all over again.
  3. Haha...mine came with a wench to drive it.. Bonus!
  4. Ticking over issues requires a strip down, it could be a number of things. Do you explain all your terms and conditions to everyone of your customers. Especially if you run a busy shop with maybe a queue at the counter Taking one side of the story and running with it is a bad trait in my eyes and far too common
  5. It was a long time since I was repairing power tools but I do believe there was a liability issue with reassembling, if you reassembled a faulty machine and the user was injured using it ....blah blah Again guys, we have half the tale but are making some big assumptions
  6. I,d love to do it, but not without a harness
  7. Problem with hire is you don't know the history. Certification won't tell you if it has been used as a crane for example. With ownership, at least you,d know
  8. Haha, my NPTC instructor was crap You can't fault the direction of fell though, absolutely perfect
  9. Just on this house as it's newer than the rest so presume it was a different developer. There's about three that are ring barked but the whole woodland is a bit dire, apparently the owner of the woodland used to keep pigs in it, he applied to fell some trees and was refused so he smeared marmite all around the base of the trees and the pigs stripped the bark off the majority of them. I knew the tale from this wood so was expecting to see said stripped bark and was surprised to actually see cuts
  10. It's a brand new house, new owner has only been there 3 months and he loves the trees, they are the edge of a woodland and shield the house from winds Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. Just a little too enthusiastic with the saw ? One of the wind blown we were called out to today, three other trees will have to come down. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. I would agree, we only have one side of the story, " couldn't get them to idle quite right" could mean scored pistons or low bottom end compression. The dealer may be honest and genuinely thought they were not worth repairing, especailly if they are bound to use OE parts. Not saying Eco is not right either, but we are all presuming the dealer is an arse
  13. I wouldn't bother highlighting the issue to them Adam, anyone thick enough to believe it should not be in the gene pool anyway, natural selection and all that. Trouble with health and safety nowadays is that it is weakening the said gene pool, danger is natures way of weeding
  14. I used to carry out repairs and service on power tools and generators. If the machines were beyond economical repair rod going to be expensive to repair we used to phone the customer, tell them how much and if they decided not to go ahead with the repair we send the machine back in bits unless they paid for the time to reassemble them It looks to me like they have checked for scoring on the piston
  15. Thank you chaps, worked in the rain today and got the wall completely up just got the rest of the toppings to put on, they can cut the band line now if they wish Never got to the bottom of the yew vandalism btw Sent from my GT-I9505 using Arbtalk mobile app
  16. I don't get it, I'm building a drystone wall down at my yard and two days in a row someone has cut my builders line. Previous to that someone keeps pulling the odd yew out by its roots on 100 hedge I planted on the boundary. Nothing mega serious just petty stuff I honestly have not given anyone reason to have a grudge or anything. Some people are strange, there's nowt na queerer na folk Sent from my GT-I9505 using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. As above, two man operation and if anyone got injured there,d be solicitors making a lot of money
  18. Should I carefully place them or give them a slight flick onto the checker plate off my teaspoon, I need the results to be consistent and I only use tetleys tea bags, cheapo don't stick as well
  19. Lost them today, don't know at what speed cos I didn't see them go will have to repeat the experiment next brew time
  20. These teabags have stood up to 50 Mph haven't tried them with a side wind yet. I think the checker plating is giving extra grip. I.m waiting for them to dry out to see if this affects the cohesion
  21. Factor in depreciation of the log splitter, possible break down cost, wear and tear of power pak or tractor, service costs
  22. Had our shoot dinner on Saturday over a 100 head at £25 a head.
