  1. Two months ago I lost one of my two working Springers, he went downhill rapidly. We had a blood test done and his liver levels were sky high. Now, my other springer is showing the same signs and is struggling, I have him booked in Monday for ex rays and blood tests if he lasts till then. I heard yesterday that a lot of dogs have died in my area and the common denominator is they walk there dogs on the fields near me. I know the farmer and I know he is a what I would term a dirty farmer. He has a field near me where he has dumped around 60 ton of "manure" in a pile about 5 month ago which is now so wet it is a slurry pile about 2ft deep and 40ft round. My dogs don't access that field but my dad has walked them on a field he has slurried and I have seen carcasses of chickens in the slurry. I always thought it was illegal to put carcasses in slurry and store it on fields for any length of time, is this the case.
  2. This is where I bought mine Access Platforms, Powered Access & Platform Equipment - Promax Access A good machine around the 20m mark tracked you,ll need to budget around £50-95k If I remember correct Such as the teupen Leo 23gt is £95k
  3. I once hired the omme 37, you get quite a view when you go full tilt up
  4. My tracked has 11m outreach Sent from my GT-I9505 using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. Vehicle mounted is limited to where you can get it Trailer mount is limited to where you can man handle it to. Tracked is unlimited, if you can't get a tracked machine in you'll not get any other in. Why buy vehicle or trailer mount with limited uses Sent from my GT-I9505 using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. They always do when viewing my eye through a leupold
  7. Ive been once, it was peeing it down and windy, went for breakfast at the marina, on the way there we noticed the sheep were very nervous, I won't go into detail but we ended up escaping from the Marina in a high speed 10 man rib and coming back two days later to collect our vehicles when all the locals were still asleep
  8. It could be that your so fast and slick that the rope just couldn't keep up the pace
  9. What you should be doing in reality is forgetting about oil, do your sums without it, if you can still run the country on manufacturing and export then why not go independent. I would hazard a guess that Scotland's exports are not strong enough to go it alone without North Sea oil. You may be able to export that and save up a fund, but then how long will that fund last when oil runs out. Oil will get a bit like coal shortly, the reserves that are left are very difficult to extract and cost much much more to get it, prices will increase very significantly and oil will go out of favour as technology is on the brink of finding a new power source. What you cannot do is speculate on how much of your money the English spend, which is what we are hearing a lot of. The royal family ( and this is speculation) will probably bring in far more revenue than they cost, in tourism and commerce as ambassadors to the uk, the two princes are the best thing that has happened to this country in a long time
  10. You only have a population of 5.5 million, you rely heavily on oil for income. The points raised were totally invalid, because you cannot say how much in factual terms, was your proportion of money spent in England or how much of your money was spent on you and your infrastructure, benefit system, health care etc etc. Rather than speculate how much of your wealth we have squandered on us, the royal family, the M25 and not you, give us some figures Income generated by Scotland minus total expenditure on Scotland
  11. This is the big problem, its going to cost me a fortune as they will have to heavily tax everything. Oil, Rab C nesbit, haggis and whisky are your only exports, I cant understand Rab, I dont eat Haggis but I do drink a lot of whisky
  12. No disrespect Gnome, I love you really, but that has to be one of the most " head in the sand" naive posts I have ever seen.
  13. How ironic, British telecom with a foreign call centre
  14. Went down yesterday morning to put a load of feeders in and this morning when I went down I couldn't believe it, I could hear loads of bird song which I never hear down there. When I got to the feeders there were loads of little birds. The only small bird I normally see is the robin and the odd treecreeper, today I,ve seen more birds down there in one day than I have over a year I,m quite confident now this will work
  15. Like it or not, How much revenue does the royal family attract to the uk in tourism . How many doors will popular members of the royal family open I can't see a visit to a country by the milliband brothers opening up too many doors.
  16. Do you think nationalism is future proof, given the fact that the whole world is opening up via the electronic age, different culture are communicating on a scale never before witnessed, integrating on a scale that has occurred more on the last 20 years than it has in the last 200 years. At the current scale of integration, nationalism, culture, race will be a thing of the past in a relatively short period of time and a single race will inevitively evolve Evolution overrides everything What really pishes me off is cultures hanging on to the past sad some kind of badge of honour and pride, when they themselves were absolutely naff all to do with it. If the current population of the world learn from the past, not try to hang on to it and move forward to the future the world would be a much better place Hanging on to ideas that my ancestors ran around in bearskin skirts with wooden clubs does not fill me with pride and I would not want to march round the streets every year with banners celebrating thousands of people dying in the name of whatever as happens in ireland I have never even thought of Scotland, Wales or Ireland as a different country until this last few month, I have always thought of us as one, if we came under threat we would stand together as one Nationalism is trouble, it's short minded, and it's Arcadian, it's not future proof. In today's trading markets, making yourselves a smaller is a bad move. Companies join, merge and integrate. Why as a country would you want to go the opposite way. I am not political in any way shape or form, my view are totally from a common sense point of view, not a political one

  22. At the moment it is an understorey tree within a silver birch woodland, nice full crown. sorry Gaz missed your post, yes its hornbeam, for some reason the squirrels are decimating them, they are leaving all the other trees but stripping the hornbeams ??
  23. A few years ago I heard a tale that a good thing was to smear vasaline on fresh cambium damage. I decided to carry out an experiment. Two identical areas of fresh squirrel damage on hornbeam, left side left as is, right side smeared with a thick layer of vasaline and left for two years. Vasaline has not been completely wiped off but you can still see the results, left side has very thick new growth and has nearly healed completely. Right side shows very little growth and new growth has lots of areas where it shows no new growth at all
