  1. That tree may not be big but ..... ouch!! By the way a bit late now but I was told it was extremely bad luck to cut a monkey puzzle tree down....
  2. Nice one Tom - that trophy looks good do you get to keep it?
  3. Nice jon, I just bunged a few pics on ebay and by far it has got me the most sales to date. So much so when time permits I will list a big range there as part of an ebay shop. But expect 75% of enquires to be good ol honest time wasters though....
  4. Very hard to advise - I would just mill it (taking photos as you go) stack it and dry it then put it on ebay. I have a few bits of wood on ebay (I need to get more of a comprehensive listing on there) and have found it to bring in a lot of business.
  5. Nice layout and co ordinated sign writing. Looks professional.
  6. Within 10 miles is free, 10 to 20 miles min is 2 cube and further is 2 cube + £20. Max would be 30 miles but never had to go that far....

    Nitro Circus!!!

Have seen them all... my mate records them and we watch in batches of 2 or 3... Pretty mental really and not sure where the line between brave and foolhardy is with what they do.... it's when they still do the stunts with their arms in plaster that gets me
  8. Ok there's a £5-00 to kick things off. Are they going to film their run or get it filmed for a youtube clip?
  9. I aim to alienate between 3 to 5 customers each year selling logs.. Ok of course I don't aim to but this is usually the average number of people i get that aren't happy for whatever reason with their logs . It goes with the territory IMO - I offer a £20-00 part refund and a promise that they never contact me for any reason again. You just will not keep everyone happy in this game! So don't try... P.S I also hate old Tom who used to deliver a massive load for £10 and stack them all immaculately round the back as well as offering useful advice on virtually any subject you care to mention!
  10. I hope Mr Bolan milled that lovely looking brown oak.....!
  11. I think the fact that you posted this as a thread says you're obviously worried about it... So find another climber to work with you - make less - have peace of mind. Or don't do the job!
  12. Was demoing this at Jonsies show. IMO it has 2 uses - for the home owner who can't sharpen, and for those wishing to cut stumps out or very dirty wood. I was running full throttle in a paving slab for 3 seconds with sparks flying, took 30 seconds to resharpen and then away you go cutting again. You would usually write off a chain doing what I did yet the powersharp chain managed 18 sharpens (after 18 times being pushed into a paving slab). But it is not as fast as 'normal' chain (maybe 70% to 80% as fast). Other opinions may vary but I thought it was pretty amazing and nice to see some innovation going on. I want to get a load in (should be Sept/Oct) but apprently demand in the States has been so high there's a waiting list..... I think that in itself says a lot.
  13. Some great original work there Cracker
  14. Great work - you could certainly tell you were pleased the way it went!!
  15. Hi Andrew, You can go up to a 30" bar with the Alaskan 24" mill. Your 044 will take a 25" bar max and would be the better saw of the two you have but a larger saw like a 660 or 880 would be even better. Have a look at alaskan mill I home of the portable chainsaw mill for more info, cheers, Rob

  16. Just keep making different things until someone says 'how much for that?' - then make lots more of them! I've found a good way of making tables but you need a Peterson mill to do the legs quickly is the only thing...
  17. Ho Ho! Thanks Charlie - yes if you could ask around as there's plenty of time yet. Someone could do well out of it as they'll have their timber milled for free as close as possible to how they want it milled.
  18. Does he have lots of timber he wants milling Stevie? If he may be interested can you forward his number to me or mine to him?
  19. Myself and Loglogic need a load of timber for milling demos at the apf show. This would need to be dropped off on the 20th or the 21st September on site at Cannock Chase, Rugeley, Staffordshire. We would like all hardwood either oak, beech, ash or elm or any other hard woods you may have. 4x 3ft to 3.5ft diameter - 8ft to 12ft long. 9x 2ft to 2.5ft diameter - 8ft to 12ft long. I was thinking there's 2 ways of playing this. 1) We could just pay for the timber as a straight deal or : 2) (and preferably) you could drop the timber off and it will be milled for you for free (to your requirements) ready to be picked up at the end of the show. On our stand we will have running a full collection of chainsaw mills, a Peterson 8" swingmill and an auto trek bandsaw mill. If you need more info please post, PM or call 07811611457. Cheers, Rob
  20. Cheers Dean - will watch with the missus tonite... seen first 3 mins and looks really interesting
  21. No prob Les! The powersharp will def have a place in every truck in years to come...
  22. Rob D

    Thank you

Very well organised show Justin. Talking to Les his idea of getting everyone who comes in has to go to all stands + collect stickers to get a free burger would be good. Other than that I think next year will top 1000 through the door. Well done again for organising
  23. 3" Dean !? My tool penetrates an eye watering 8"... But once you've had a metal detector it's the sort of thing you wonder how you managed without one.....
  24. Well it's fully booked for that weekend so there are others out there who also value a 'bit of me-time' on Sat morning rather than the 'shall I use the portaloos or just hang on and hope it'll all be fine when I get home' !!
