  1. Also I find it quite easy to make to tables and benches quickly but chairs are another matter !
  2. That seat is excellent!!
  3. That's low! Are you going to look through it to see if there may be some info as to where it may have come from?
  4. Yes unfortunetly I am sworn to secrecy at the moment ...... But hopefully will be worth the wait!

    milled oak

Good work Dan and welcome to forum. Great to see the timber in this country being used
  6. Josh has some valid points there... It's always been a problem for static versions of a chainsaw mill based system - it's usually always faster to just get the first plank off and mill by hand - it's cheaper, faster, less hassal...... There is something in the pipeline at the moment that could revolutionise chainsaw milling (has been in development for 2 years)... but that's all I can say at the moment...
  7. That is scary Justin!! Especially the bit where you shouted and they kept on coming

    moisture meter

I sell the J-lite as pictured here for £95-00 + vat alaskan mill I home of the portable chainsaw mill I looked into moisture meters and Delmhorst seemed to keep cropping up as manufacturing the most reliable meters. Have a look on their website. I have 9 more available but when I've sold another 4 I'm putting the price back to £135-00 .... as they cost me £85-00 each
  9. 30 years climbing! Very good going - good luck in the new venture

    Gutted!!!!!

What a big strapping boy like you in the prime of his young life?! I'd have thought you'd be using 2x 660s at the same time Mark!
  11. I got one of the Aspen metal containers for £108 which holds 54 5l cans. Otherwise it's just common sense although no doubt you could get bogged down in COSH regualtions.... In earlier threads there were a couple of comments of Aspen being 3x the price - it's 2x the price of normal fuel. Health benefits - regardless of aromatic hydro carbons and all the rest I have plenty of days using 20 litres fuel milling and the only thing that gave me a headache using Aspen was the bar oil! So changed that to a bio veg chain oil and now I can literally fit my mouth over the exhaust and re breath the clean fumes that come out:001_tt2: But I have suffered no headaches dizziness or the like since switching. No symtoms = better health. Simple as that.
  12. Wait until you start milling Mark - you may change your mind then!! That's when I went onto Aspen.
  13. Ditto above - I find pushing down hard on where the bar with handle on meets back rail is enough to keep the mill flater as it exits.
  14. Can you do me a favour Jon and get all the figures off the machine i.e. start up current etc. etc. Just going to have a look at how else you could power it.
  15. A little more fuel used but certainly not drastically more.
  16. Great idea Jonathon! I'll give that a go on some cedar I'm doing this week! I know what you mean about the wedges - tap them in too hard when you're near the end of the log and the plank snaps off leaving a little raised lump that you hit with the rails the next plank
  17. Thanks Jon. There is a 3 phase invertor I could buy that goes up to 4 hp. Any idea of how many horsepower this machine is?
  18. Ahhh... found a link to Scott here Chainsaw Muffler Modifications - Internet Sales World Wide - Tree World
  19. Monterey pine but it's a good size butt all of 4ft. I've cut the whole of those 2 butts up and it was still pulling nicely through the wood.
  20. It was about £50-00 for the mod I think. But it's the muffler that costs - a new muffler for the 880 is aorund the £180+ vat mark !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But luckily there was one on US ebay second hand for £60. So I had this sent to Scott and then he sent it on to me. He does all mufflers for most saws - I've lost his e-mail address now and also how to spell his name right so you may have to trawl google to find him! Another way is get an after market muffler from Baileys sent to him and then he'll post back to you which would probably not be that much. I adjusted the high jet to richen the mixture I think it was about a quarter turn maybe not even that. You don't want the saw revving its absolute max but just come off the screw so it has that slight 'chuckle' on high revs.
  21. I hope you did stop undoing his pants after he told you not to!!
