Nicely done - tall tree that! I know what you mean ref power lines... how conductive is a climbing line? Does anyone know relative conductivity of dry rope and wet?

I use screws called Ultimates and bolts called index bolts. But the main tool is the impact driver to drive these in.... without that tool nothing is possible!

Yep it'll warp and crack a fair bit but glue and biscuiting would not stop green oak.... But just being bolted together will help keep it straight.... I'll also be doing softwood ones which won't move as much.

Not a lot really - prob around £150-00 + vat.... it's still quite rough... Main thing is it's all 3" oak which sets it apart from other benches. Am going to make a load and instead of sanding everything perfectly I'll make em, leave outside a month for the surface to dry, then spend max 30 mins sanding any corners, sharp edges and obvious splinters. That way I can sell cheaply and so they're more likely to sell.

Going to be doing lots of these this year. The Peterson makes things easier but you could do the same method with a big circular saw to hand.

My mate has a Stihl lecky one and it works well using it for cutting his firewood.

Sorry but don't think it's the same in the slightest - in the tree world we complain about getting undercut by people with no training, no insurance, no safety gear... You're complaining about getting undercut by competitors. So are you saying these competitors are operating illegally? Do you have proof of these other drivers being pushed to the limits? If these other drivers/firms are unsafe that needs to be looked into. Going on strike should not come into it.

As long as it was sound all the way up the main trunk - there looks to be an old cavity at the end..... I dunno between £100 and £150 if someone collected from site..... like everything depends on how much someone wanted it.

I know what you mean I've had a few bites from these flys and the area swells up like a balloon for 3 to 4 days.... the only good thing is they seem to be slow moving but they are very persistent once they decide to chew on you!

Again very nice - I've done a few benches in very similar design to this but a bit 'chunkier' looking. They work well and seem pretty popular.

You can't assume that - you need to go to the Doc asap as a lot of problems can be sorted but the times they can't are often down to leaving it too late.... get yourself down there or A&E - none of us like it but sometimes it has to be done.

Cracking piece of work - was it hard to scope/saw all the material out from the middle or do you have a short cut?

Unfortunately I cam never see Aspen coming down in price unless fuel duty is reduced on it...
