  1. Well done for doing it - but as said in other posts you have to look after yourself first before looking after others.... And also hopefully the people you have helped will now in their own way look to help you.
  2. Vid showing stickering walnut boards sawn the other day. The strapping tools are available from fortis load secure Cord Straps-Woven Polyester Strapping-Polyester - fortris load secure and are ideal for strapping stacks because when the wood shrinks you can go round and re tension I just use B&Q PVA glue to end seal.
  3. Chairs look very good - how long would you say they take to make each?
  4. Liking the square blocks of oak - I did some beech ones for bedside tables but not quite as perfectly square as yours.... they weighed a fair bit and I bet these do...
  5. Yep - all the Stihl bars are on the website Chainsawbars ? bars, chains and chainsaw accessories

All the Husky bars I have but have yet to add them to website...

  6. Prob... but it all depends on where you sell em and if they're cheap people will buy..... Looking at his feedback I'm not sure if he's sold one of these yet (on ebay anyway). I get tired of moving furniture from one place to the next.. this year will be much more about knocking it out. May have some more oak coming in soon and will be doing a couple more.
  7. The first 30 bags i dropped and asked people to drop back you can guess how many I got..... yep 0%! Now it works out at 85% which is not bad and I expect a few of these will get changed over next year.
  8. That's superb what would make it even better IMO is more sanding but that's just my opinion.
  9. I have some greenheart - most durable timber there is for under water. What dimensions do you need?
  10. If you're doing the fully vented log bags then take a £5-00 deposit. I've done this for 2 years - but I do know a shop the customer can then drop the bag off 9-5 to get their deposits back....
  11. Stihl only go up to a 5.2mm but I do have some Pferd ones (I'm pretty sure they make the Stihl ones for Stihl) that have 5.5mm set up for .404 chain..... I'm not marketing them as they cost £2-00 less wholesale than the Stihl EZ file does retail! PM me if you want one - would be £30-00+vat. They're not bad.... but personally I wouldn't say they were 'night and day' compared to other filing techniques and equipment - just another useful option. The main disadvantage is that you have to have one for each size chain. Here's a vid:
  12. Is it cause your grandma didn't buy you Christmas pressies!! I've kept the original one and that was Katy Perry.... but youtube no like it!
  13. Hmmm... dunno... about 4 to 5 minutes maybe..... would not have liked it to have been 20 ft!
  14. Strangely the 090 feels less of a beast than the 880.... dunno what the stats are but feels better balanced - lighter? And it will just keep dragging that chain around where the 880 would bog down.... But the 880 at speed will give faster cutting up to and including 36" bar.... 50" bar could be similar milling speed... above this I'd have the 880.
  15. Yep the soundtrack is very bad! Ho Ho!
  16. Got a Stihl 090 recently and this was the first real milling job for it.... am out of 56" rails at the mo so had to use 48" which just managed it. Apologies for song but at least it's in keeping.... original vid I uploaded they blocked..... Synopsis of song - writer feels that walnuts are one of the few things he can trust in life as his Grandma promised him lots of things for Christmas and didn't deliver... he is understandably upset and angry about this. This walnut would rate : Colour : 7/10 - pretty deep colour Shake : 10/10 - no shake whatsoever! Sap ring : 4/10 - massive white sapwood ring - not what you want to see... 17. No they're not cheap and you could prob build your own - all depends on how much your time's worth really... If you have a project in mind for the timber or someone who wants something made then that way at least it pays for itself quickly..... I'm going to be focusing this year on rough, quick outdoor benches etc rather than the all nicely finished stuff I have done in the past.... If you build solid and cheap they will sell.
  18. Am going through all my raw vid footage at the mo so will be posting a few more today....nothing exciting really but quite into the speed up on windows live media player.... But it seems now you have to use obscure songs or else your vid will be blocked by youtube. Milled this lump of cedar 2 years ago.... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEmXvwhP1oI]Chainsaw milling a cedar butt - YouTube[/ame]
  19. Yep the end clamp is all movable and you could in theory fit a 56" Alaskan to a 20" bar if you wanted! Big J's offer could be a good move as the 42" Cannon bars for 880 are big money now.... I've used a duramatic for milling before - it does work but a sprocket nose bar is much preferable.... dunno why Stihl do not do a 48" Rollamatic ES bar when they make the 59" Rollamatic
  20. Nice pics Jon - forget the swimming though.... I bet you had some neoprene undies on!
  21. Nice reductions - clearly you take pride in your work. Welcome to arbtalk.
  22. Cheers all! Yes this one is for Justins smoking shed! Not sanded (so watch for splinters) and Justin will have to use his carpentry skills for some light assembly work when it gets dropped off.
  23. It is on that one and it seemed to work well. One of the oregon .325 vpx slightly narrower kerf bar and chain combos..... 15" bar.
  24. Small log mill is also great for resawing beams if you have one good flat edge.
  25. Is it def the mini mill and not the small log mill? The two are always confused.... Small log mill here Mini mill here
