  1. Looks good
  2. Dry up to 12 and then it's just been constant rain... again!
  3. Speaking to a dealer the newer ones (not sure on what reg onwards) are 7.5t downrated to 3.5t.
  4. I've been using these for detail sanding DeWalt D28117 110V 1100W 4½" Variable Speed Mini Grinder - Power Tools, Grinders & Chasers, Angle - 4½" (115mm) But the above get hot with sustained hard sanding. And these for mass sanding (also the makita equivalent) Dewalt DWP849X 240V 1250W 6" & 9" (150 & 180mm) Premium Variable Speed Polisher - Power Tools, Sanders / Polishers, Sander / Polishers Main thing with these is that you have variable speed control - helps stop burning the wood. They're fast, cheap sanding discs, can get things to mirror smoothness.
  5. Looks a great idea to me
  6. Filmed an hour ago! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SBXK1MHV84&feature=youtube_gdata]Hail in July?? - YouTube[/ame]
  7. Good stuff Alex - enjoy!

  8. Sorry to hear this Justin - gutted.... something sickening when you get broken into. I hope they get caught.
  9. The handheld 12 volt one is very fast but loses in accuracy... handy out working. Like everything you get better the more you use them. I don't mark the grinding stones up massively like other companies! Granberg led the way in guides for filing - their round file version oregon actually copied many years ago! I think Matt is going ahead and getting one and typically that's the last one I have of the precision variety... I'll be getting more on my next order of course prob in around the 6th August. The vids for them all are on here Chainsawbars - YouTube
  10. If you're really undecided then I'll let you have one for a week and if you're unhappy with it you can return it.... so all you'll lose is the return postage... Just keep all the box it comes in and gubbins! Can't say fairer than that! Only thing I ask in return is that you have to update this thread with your comments on it and if possible some pics of using it.
  11. Ha ha - they're amazing buy 10! Personally I find them excellent for longer bars and esp bars for milling as you can leave the saw in the Alaskan.... But some people don't like the fiddling - you have to get used to it but once you have you can slap it on, sharpen quickly and get back to work again.
  12. I'm just looking into supplying Save Edge files.... But although based in the States they are imported from somewhere in Europe... Once i have a few may sponsor a round file test i.e. grind the suppliers name off and then offer a batch of 8 files, 2 of each and see who thinks which one is the best in a blind test.
  13. Nice pics John - it's lovely to get an oak that size and as clean.... from those pics I can see why you often want to cut logs in half as it looks like you can mill pretty 'tall' pieces on the woodmeiser.
  14. I doubt that is correct either! 40% of income on food?? And you're spending £600-00 a week? - what are you eating Food has never been cheaper in that if you go into a supermarket and buy the lowest price brands you could spend a tenner and come out with 2 shopping bags full.
  15. Ditto - it doesn't matter how you started out....
  16. Alright Alex - you should get your mill Tuesday.

  17. Got a few on my website treet|Hand Crafted Furniture PM me if anything like that takes your fancy.
  18. Here you go: !
  19. Really like the first one - I have a couple of burrs to make bowls out of like that.
  20. Look very well made and finished.
  21. I doubt any trousers will stop an 880 at full tilt.... more importantly work in trousers you find comfortable so you don't rush. Get things set up properly. Using a chainsaw in a mill should mean it never comes near your legs.
  22. Thanks for the replies. I do have electricity running to it - it is to do with drying wood and storing equipment in. I'll have a look at that link.
  23. That's why you started it wasn't it Steve - so that nice clean young gentlemen could meet other nice clean young gentlemen!
  24. Does anyone know any good resources for looking at having containers on your land? I rent an area and have the council coming round this week and have 2x old freezer bodies I use to dry wood. They are tucked away and out of visible sight. Just wondering how I stand legally - i.e. am I allowed them or is it one of those grey areas....
  25. Constantly coming across metal in trees - but now always do a sweep with the metal detector. Then you can at least work around it and salvage some of the timber.
