  1. That's got to be some nice timber in that Mozz - will you be milling it?
  2. Thanks Steve - I'll have Husky up there soon - just ironing out the database over this week. I have all the Husky stuff in stock - mainly just Oregon as all husky chain is oregon chain rebranded. Husky do make their own bars up to 24" but then they rebrand powermatch bars for the longer ones.... Have not stocked Husky bars as I don't think they are better than Oregon version. Do have most of the cannon bars in the husky mounts as well.
  3. Great post I'll have to remember that looks ideal for nasty jobs.
  4. I know exactly what you mean - My thoughts are 'well what can I do about it?' - I try and give money regularly to the ITF www.internationaltreefoundation.org/ although only when my credit card is £0!
  5. I've seen those diamond stone cutting chains and although they sound cool all it is is little sand sized flecks of diamond on the back of the tooth - they would not cut wood and with the water they use as lube will make a lot of mess. Carbide will disintegrate when it hits stone... I'd just buy a good few chains is the cheapest option.
  6. It's his first post and he's taken the time to put a vid up and this is the best reply you can give? Working like that 4 weeks for no money is hardly lazy Good on you for sticking it as long as you did - the only thing you can do is keep trying until you find something better. Keep your head down and keep looking.
  7. Cheers for that Darryl!
  8. Electric saw sounds like it would be just the job in your situation and as said the largest Stihl one I think is pretty good...
  9. Isn't the dura sharp chain a carbide chain? I've experimented with carbide a few years ago and despite what you read on many forums I really can't see a place for it in 99.99% chainsaw operations.... when it is as sharp as it can possibly be it cuts like a dull steel chain, it still gets dull and if you hit something you can write the chain off - and it costs a fortune! As spud says get the oregon 95vpx set up - slightly narrower kerf, easy sharpening and very quick indeed! The cutters seem a mite shorter and chain will not last as long but after the picco duro chain it'll feel like it's a different saw! Can buy here on my site Chainsawbars ? bars, chains and chainsaw accessories but register first, e-mail me on [email protected] and I'll set the discount.
  10. To be fair he is only 13.... Comments read - -will you sharpen the chain - gawd! -yah I just sharpened the chain! Quite an achievement to carve that mushroom with a chain like that
  11. We all make mistakes and misjudgements but they will always happen - it's how you deal with them when they do happen... sounds like you dealt with them fine
  12. First attempt Pretty amazing work I'd say - ash and maybe walnut?
  13. Nice plenty of tidying up to do!
  14. Yep I find it's the sanding that takes the time... I have a few people now I can pass this onto which helps massively - tend to just get them to do 4 hours a time as after that you've had enough! You obviously take a bit of time and care cutting these out as they look pretty uniform
  15. Brilliant - and what a great place to put it
  16. You'll have fun firewooding it then! If you're serious about getting someone to mill it offer it as free but you want any firewood/off cuts and a couple of planks out of it... you'll have more chance then.
  17. Really good again - what sort of man hours does something like this take?
  18. Great idea thanks for posting! There's an advertiser on here somewhere that has a similar method using thick sheet - as it gets rolled up it pulls the logs off - but this looks a bit more heavy duty.
  19. I'd always go for the sprocket nose - less friction than a solid nose and also less money!
  20. If you're looking to sell it you really need to cut the root plate off and then take a ring away so you can see what the timbers like inside.
  21. No worrys - it's interesting a lot of people find the Granberg chain better... ...but yes I now advertise that you need to have a 12v grinder (or bench grinder) to sharpen it as TrollS says the scoring cutters can be hardened off to the point they strip a round file
  22. I don't think it would and people who are going to carve their names in trees will prob do it anyway or worse (and they do!).
  23. Rob D

Nice simple design and easy to secure. Def was a good idea to put the back pieces through the uprights
  24. I hear what you're saying but ditto above - the working corner on micro and semi chisel chain is more tolerant to dulling than the fine point of a full chisel. But full chisel is great particularly in clean softwood.
  25. Good work - they look very accurate
