  1. We are just about to launch a new chainsaw training day, aimed at the domestic market. This would be done at Kingswood Training Services. Lantra and NPTC approved Tree Surgery Training Courses | Kingswood Training - Chainsaw Training, Arb Training, Climbing Courses, Forestry Courses After a few discussions with domestic customers asking if there is anywhere that does a chainsaw training day, to give them the basics in chainsaw use. We have come up with this. Let me know what you think, I know your mostly pros on here but the domestic market is big and I would rather have something to offer them than nothing at all when they ask. Please give me your honest feedback, I think we are the first to offer this and can offer it as a package with a chainsaw. ONE DAY - INTRODUCTION TO SAFE AND EFFICIENT USE OF CHAINSAWS. Course will be in 2 parts: Workshop based: A look in detail at how the chain works, and how to avoid kickback Correct sharpening, chain tension and why it matters! This would include choosing the correct files, understanding filing angles and how chain tension affects cutting speed. The chain brake - what it does, and how to use it properly Cleaning the air and fuel filters - in order to develop full power the engine needs a constant supply of clean air and petrol. The starter mechanism - How to replace the cord, and re-tension the spring. Fueling and lubrication - two-stroke mixing and the chain lubrication system. Protective clothing - what you should wear and how it protects you. Tension and compression in timber - understand when the saw is likely to become trapped Forest based: Site safety - lone working - does someone at the very least know where you are and what you are doing? Do you have a suitable First Aid Kit? Does your mobile have a signal? Safe starting procedures - how to start the saw ergonomically from cold and hot Safety checks - a look at how to ensure the the saw is operating correctly before using it Stance and grip - how to hold the saw, and where it should be in relation to your body. Using the throttle correctly - getting the saw to produce ample power without blowing it up! Pulling and pushing chains - how the saw reacts in relation to the wood Cleaning and storage after use Saturdays 9am - 4pm (or 10 - 5) if preferred. Bring a packed lunch and flask and ppe if owned. £79 + vat
  2. Can we have a pic of the worn spikes.
  3. Hi all I'm thinking of making an area in the new shop for people to have a sit down and a drink either while shopping or waiting for a quick repair, hedge cutter sharpened etc... A pub bench with copy of arb mags. Question is, if I put in a drinks machine with a choice of approx 10 different drinks would people be willing to pay 50p per drink or would they not bother. Let me know your thoughts as it's a big outlay but if people want it I'll put it in. You never know it might become a meeting place for people, I have no problem with people just popping in to grab a cup for a break.
  4. They don't appear to be on the website. Give us a ring and I'll sort it

  5. That's silly cheep, but I've already got a case for mine. Might get a spare.
  6. I've not used one myself. But sat on the board for other companies using one. If you get a good one, they will be worth the money all day long. If you can take an outsider picking you apart for constructive reasons and do as they ask before the next meeting then it will be worth it. If you don't do what they ask of you, you won't know if it would have worked in the first place. Make sure you get a few people to sit in with you to put an outsiders point of view across. Sometimes their are obvious things you can change, but you just can't see it yourself. I think about £600-£1000 per day is a good one. It's a massive decision to make and an even bigger commitment as they will give you work to do. Good luck what ever you decide.
  7. As long as it's the same size it will be fine, I don't know the numbering on the Oregon plugs.

  8. What's the verdict, who would want one if I had them made or imported?
  9. We do this one Portek Logmaster sawhorse | F R Jones and Son
  10. Congrats to all, hope everyone is safe and well.
  11. Hi All The MS192 are all gone and Husky are low on everything.
  12. I was told it's worldwide, but I'm not 100% on when it comes into effect around the world.
  13. When they made the rule and we all signed the contracts, it was for all Stihl branded stuff. It would be good if they relaxed it to machines only. Maybe they will for next year, fingers crossed hint hint.
  14. Some may run the risk, but we won't Stihl and us work well together and I want it to stay that way. 90% of you on here are pro users anyway so as long as we can have some proof it's not going to be a problem. If you look at it from Stihl's angle, they and we don't think it's right that someone can walk into B&Q, buy a chainsaw and use it, without a clue what they are doing. Stihl took a stance a few years back that EVERYTHING that is Stihl branded must be handed over and demonstrated to the customer unless they can prove they are a pro user. It was a bold move, but it's worked for them so far.
  15. But he was training and needed it for a course.
  16. Yes mate same price as the normal one, and would take about 2-3 days to come in. If you need one just order the normal one and put in the notes that you want the orange one and I'll make sure they swap it for you.

  18. Had a great day fishing and a good old laugh, just got in as my lot came back to the pub stinking of fishing and tales of the big ones. A big thanks to Mr Stockbridge for sorting this. To be honest I had lost a bit of faith in sea fishing in England until today. We had a lot of fish on the boat and a good time as well. Cheers Mick:thumbup: Mick got a few photos so I'll wait for them to come up.
  19. I've confirmed with my guys, Me, Plippy, Mat, Alex and we are all well up for it. Can you let us know what time to meet and where, also what time we are due back. Going out for sickness pills and some warm clothing.
  20. Hi yes they do now, not sure on pricing but they have told me they can do it on house.
  21. Seem to have missed this thread, if your an existing pro customer I can supply you. It's all here. Stihl Professional Hand-over Policy | F R Jones and Son
  22. It's a standard Petzl helmet, with a bit added on for Husky or Stihl to repackage label and sell. Just get a Petzl it's the same.
  23. The 2011 catalogue was printed in Jan the new models (201T, 201 back handle, 241) are not in there until the new one next year. This happens every year as they are never quite sure when the new one will be on sale. They wouldn't want to promise something and then it not arrive, if you no what I mean.
  24. Be careful when cracking on to you local barmaid, you might just end up marrying one. And my mate married the other one.
  25. There is at least 15 pubs within 20 minutes walk from my house, I try to use them us much as I can, but it's messing with my waistline.
