1. used to wear a G-shock...but having worn one out and done 2 replacements in 3 months...I gave up wearing a watch for a few years...have been wearing one of these since xmas...has held out well so far! CWC - Cabot Watch Company | G10 non-dated watch make sure you get a genuine issue watch strap and not some copy...my first strap lasted 3 days of climbing!
2. work...which is not what were doing this summer
3. 'never put your finger where you wouldn't put your c#ck!'...especially true with woodchippers!
4. keep the chainsaws, I've got a girl friday on my island....
5. bang out the job, one day is a must, hot and sweaty, covered in dust, chipbox full, logs all cut, water bottle empty, sarnies all gone, the tree is down, the job is won, the groundies are happy the day is done! second verse Bugger, I've only got half a day's work next week,
6. 150 for pruning...201 for takedowns...but the ideal island would mean NO WORK to do, so I wouldn't take anything
7. ran a U1300 for about 5 years... on red...I hate transits too...I run a landy 130 tipper now...just!. This debate has been going on since Pontius was a pilot. Mogs are great tools...with red diesel, no HGV, cheap insurance (back then), no tax and no MOT and O license. Down side was the maintenance...servicing and parts cost what I saved on the above. I couldn't run one now...the money and work is just not there for me anymore
8. mine needs cleaning every day, specifically, raking out the bar ..sometimes twice a day if I'm using it in things I shouldn't be . I think this is due to the small chain size producing smaller sawdust particles. Not too much of a problem if you just use it for pruning, thinning and other light work (what it was intended for). My 201T is off sick at the mo, so my 150T is living a hard life this week!
9. run it on red or get a transit !
10. I tried on on at the Arbshow...the most comfortable lid I've worn and the earmuffs were excellent....but at £186..they can keep it
11. its a 130 mate
12. bummer. starter motor went on the 130...fixed by tommorow...but guess who's working the weekend...my Missus won't be happy (again!).
13.
I just gave Feds your no re; trailer. He said he can change the hitch and if you want, he'll re-paint it for you...he's going to give u a buzz matey

14. yeah, yeah, groundhog boy!...its nothing a couple of paracetamol and a big glass of whiskey when I get in can't handle
15. I'm just about to get a 1/3 roof added to mine..we've been getting a problem with the chips ramping and blowing over the top. Also, the tool box is great, but I'm having another 1 or 2 added where the outriggers are...need to separate saws from climbing kit etc!. Mine was built by KMR in Ipswich, its spot on and very light.
16. I find that if you vary how you climb and don't cut one handed unless you have to, you can avoid RSI. Working in the rain is my injury prone time. I slipped on a wet oak limb and took a stub in the ribs last week..been climbing on in since and it HURTS!
17. I've used lots of chippers over the last 20 years, towed and PTO. For the sort of we I personally do, my TW125 is perfect, why chip logwood?. At then end of the day it depends on your set up and what you put thru your woodchipper...I've always found that 80% of the stuff we chip is under 5 inch anyway!
18. personally, this won't affect me. I buy all my spares face to face anyway. I don't use Stihl chain..I find Oregon chain and guidebars MUCH better. As for saws?...well they just want to stop people shopping around and dealers getting competitive and dropping prices. Expect prices to go UP. Iimagine if we could do this with our work eh?
19. I've had it since I was 24 in the Army. Since then, it has got progressively worse. It doesn't bother me too much..drives everyone else nuts. I recently got fitted with NHS hearing aids...only took 2 weeks from consultation to fitting:thumbup: I can wear them whilst pricing up, at meetings or watching TV etc. I find some days are worse than others...if I've had a very intensive day of cutting..or a lot of big saw use...its much worse. Wearing ear-plugs AND ear muffs when crosscutting big wood helps.
20. the thing is mate...work is tight and things are rough all round at the moment...theres not much point in spending more on advertising..the works not about in the first place. Just bite the bullet and go on survival mode...and hope that the sun will come out this year!
21. Geoff, that sounds like the prologue to one of your famous stories mate!....then what happened?
22. 'Spartans!, give us your top-handles!'.....'Come and get them.....'
23. so, basically, tickets SHOULD be refreshed after 5 years has been changed to MUST be refreshed after 5 years. Thanks for that, can't afford it at the moment. When the recession finishes and I can pay the bills and mortgage without a monthly struggle...I'll give it some thought. End of chat.
24. lets face it fella's..someones got to keep all these assessors going!
25. who care's what the EU says?...we'll be out of it within 5 years
