  3. A man and a woman who had never met before, but who were both married to other people, found themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on a trans-continental train. Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, they were both very tired and fell asleep quickly, he in the upper berth and she in the lower. At 1:00 AM, the man leaned down and gently woke the woman saying, 'I'm sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into the closet to get me a second blanket? I'm awfully cold.' 'I have a better idea,' she replied, 'Just for tonight, let's pretend that we're married.' 'Wow! That's a great idea!', he exclaimed. 'Good,' she replied, 'get your own blanket!' After a moment of silence, he farted.
  4. A lady is having a bed wetting problem, so she decides to go to the doctor. The doctor tells her to go and get undressed and wait for him in the other room. When the doctor goes into the room he tells the lady to stand on her head facing the mirror. She figures he is a doctor so she gets in front of the mirror. The doctor goes over to the lady and rests his chin between her legs and looks in the mirror. After a few minutes he stands up and tells the lady to go ahead and put her clothes back on and he will talk to her when she is dressed. The lady puts her clothes on and asks the doctor; "What is wrong with me?" "You need to stop drinking before you go to bed" he says. The lady asks; "Why did you tell me to get naked in front of the mirror and stand on my head?" He replies, "I wanted to see how I would look with a beard."
  5. I do work for a Wildlife trust...we do coronets and NFP...of course I also do normal pruning cuts. I like to be able to stand back and look at a tree and think I've done a professional job...what ever the spec was, a bit of 'job satisfaction' is a good thing. Some people are happy to smash out a tree to low standards and make the money quicker...different strokes for different folks...just do what makes you happy Chappies
  6. found on net...things found in tree's on the Kurland battlefields, Eastern Front..amazing stuff...
  7. muppets doing contract work....cheeeeep?
  8. a big Beech fell in Havering atte bower last January
  9. Ifor...it'll outlast anything else and does the job better...no contest.
  10. LOLER - what a pain in the bum. The most important part of it is checking your own kit daily before you go up a tree...I've been doing that for 20 years...I don't know anybody around here who actually does the weekly record..but a few that have mass form filling in sessions before a LOLER test etc. Also know a few LOLER inspectors who climb on kit/let their blokes climb on kit I wouldn't touch with a barge pole...hey ho....
  11. 3 of my 4 (some not so little) arbs!
  12. I think many people (including Maggie Thatcher),realised that Mandela was the only man who could step up to the plate and lead SA post-Aparthied. He did a good job in holding things together (look at what Robert Mugabe did!). One of the first things he did was upgrade SA's Armed Forces. Whatever his faults, he was a very shrewd man...and for a Marxist..had a good head for a bit of capitalism!...although he has had no direct hand in leading the country for years...his calming influence of the ANC and some of its more radical and violent elements will be missed...very soon I fear.
  13. indeed Gary, I really hope South Africa remains at peace...the power of our own media never ceases to amaze me...from frog to prince....at least we didn't make him an MP..unlike some of our other 'frogs'....
  14. Mandela was needed to hold SA together after the Apartheid regime was (rightly) removed...the problem was..he refused to renounce violence, (he was a highly motivated terrorist with strong Marxist convictions). Amnesty international refused to support him because of this...and the SA Govt offered him his freedom several times - but he refused). He became a figurehead and did a fine job of leading SA through difficult and potentially extremely violent times. The transformation from terrorist to leader was done by the Western media, who did such a magnificent job, he is revered today for all his good deeds and quotes...but his murderous past has been airbrushed from history.
  15. mods please delete if this is a bit bloody for the pages of arbtalk.... Censorbugbear reports...: Nobel Peace Laureate Nelson Mandela’s bombs
  16. RIP Nelson Mandela - and RIP to all the victims of the ANC bombings and shootings in South Africa during his time as ANC chief. He renounced violence in the end and was not a bitter man after his time in prison, he led a post Apartheid South Africa - quite a feat of Leadership...but lets not forget he was not the 'Angel' that our media will portray him as now he has passed....
  17. what can an L200 legally carry then?

  21. I'm allergic to Asprin (and lots of painkillers have it in them). I therefore only take paracetamol for pain relief - and only for things like broken fingers, toes or a bad back...the more you take them...the less effective they become.
  22. If you ever wondered why he 'looked the part'...he was!..TA Paratrooper.
  23. He deffo would have made an awesome Bond mate!
  24. From Lewis Collins Acting Bio, AIRBORNE all the way. In February 1980 Lewis went through his T.A.V.R. selection course at Hythe Assault Training area, gaining the coveted Red Beret and joining 10th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (10 Para, now disbanded). "Getting my Red Beret was the proudest moment of my life. Standing there on that square receiving my beret, well, you can't beat that. Nothing, even receiving an Oscar, would beat that."
  25. yes, it was a bee's nest...I didn't have a clue what it was until someone pointed it out to me...I seems to be full of dead bees...is that what happens to them when they die in winter?
