  1. Generally to cut trees, IME.
  2. My Co employs 3. I can very much relate to the comments made by employers on here. I just wondered how much experience you had, as you appeared to be disagreeing.
  3. How many do you employ?
  4. Can't really argue with that, makes good sense
  5. Good vid, had me in stitches. It is an interesting subject. Is advertising just about getting more work or is some of it about ego? I've not had a sign written motor for over 15 years and I'm far more work coming in than I can actually do.
  6. In your link the court did not find the tree surgeon "not competent" that was an assertion of the claimant. It was the 3 yearly inspections that were deemed by the court to be negligent, unless I'm missing something?
  7. Have you a link? What did he miss? Just because he was "not competent" does not mean all aren't. I recall another case where "experienced" foresters casting an eye over the trees was considered adequate.
  8. You need to check your insurance covers you for selling advice. Most policies these days have at least £500K "Professional indemnity", so provided you make it clear you are only carrying out a pretty basic inspection with clear parameters and no guarantee beyond this, I would have thought you would be on safe ground.
  9. Its a "point of view" or an "opinion" to which we are all equally entitled I respect your right to hold a different one to me and expect the same in return
  10. I feel exactly the same Tim. I think the growing tendency toward childlessness plays a part in the lack of patriotism. The fact that many European leaders are childless is very worrying, IMO.
  11. Checking the chip quality should give a good indication of blade sharpness. When I used to fun a small Timber Wolf (well it was actually an Entec, but same thing) I would stick a 5" log in and chip the end off it, then reverse it out. If the end has a pretty clean almost "planed" finish, the blades are nice and sharp, if its rough and torn looking, its time to change the blades.
  12. Obviously he is simply pointing out there is not access for an arctic
  13. Is there a gap between the rollers? Probably a buildup of crap stoping the top roller from fully dropping.
  14. I think you would be better trying to use the DIN plate or very close linkage. The ones I've seen on standard linkage stick out a ridiculous distance, IMO. You will also need a reverse gearbox.
  15. I think the reasoning behind this is that houses should be built with foundations that will withstand the affect of trees growing near them.
  16. Or buying booze and getting your food free from the food bank I'm pretty sure there are no "booze banks"
