  1. Boots are a very personal thing, but when you find THE ONES, like me and Tom have, you stick with them. Warm, dry, comfortable feet make life so much more pleasant.
  2. Sounds about right A development at a village near me had a £50K 360 on site. One Sunday morning a truck arrives and starts loading it, the locals call the plod. They arrive, talk too the driver and wave him on his way. And yes it was being stolen!!! The police said "it was human error", but when I say that when I'm doing 33mph in a 30mph zone they are not interested:sneaky2:
  3. I cannot pretend I know your pain, I don't. I really dread the day I loose one of my parents. You must try to keep your chin up and press on, if for no other reason than its what she would want. I don't know you, but from what I know of you from your posts, I feel sure your mother was very proud of you and your very positive "make things happen" attitude. My children are my life and my immortality. I'm sure you made your mums life very fulfilled and the fact that you where doing so well will have made her passing much easier for her. I know that when my time comes that if all my children are doing well, I will feel my work is done. Remember all the good times and keep on making her proud.
  4. I live 600 yards from the Yorkshire border, but almost never work there, I am always to expensive, its strange.
  5. Take some nice dry timber with you and fire lighters. Light the fire and then add the brash to the fire once its burning well and us the blower once its got going. When adding the brash "whip it" onto the fire so there are no gaps.

Great work mate!! But I'm not a fan of all those pegs.
  11. You having a laugh???????????? Have you ever tried??????????? Even the TO's round here tell me not to wast my time trying
  12. So why were you happy to fell them No excuse and still very unprofessional, IMO. Was once asked to cut back to boundary two Copper Beech that where in the customers neighbours garden, the neighbour had had both trees reduced at the request of my customer. I politely told her that I felt her neigbour had been reasonable and I felt a good job had been done and that I was not prepared to spoil the trees. I could have informed the neigbour of what their neighbour was intending or tried to get them TPO'd, but I could only do that by using information I was given in confidence. Happily the customer must have thought about what I said and the trees were not cut If they had been TPO'd at your request, you may have got a reputation for being in the TO's pocket or sour grapes or both.
  13. I had this last week:thumbdown: In a word no they can't (IMO) But may not be as help full in future if you get their backs up. So I am going to use the form, BUT I will only be putting on the form the things that are required for a "notification" not an "application". So forget pictures, reports etc.
  14. Do we really a situation where people use cowboys out of fear that a professional may tip off the TO???? As soon as a customer rings me and asks for a quote I feel I have entered into a contract of sort where they are giving me confidential information that will allow me to quote. IMO it is very wrong to then use that information against the client, whether my quote is successful or not.
  15. Very unprofessional!! IMV
  16. Surely that is the very reason you should not post the things you do!!!!! IMO you need years of experience before you should even contemplate trying unorthodox techniques, so showing them to an unknown audience is reckless and down right dangerous!!
  17. When I was a boy, at the next farm over from ours lived an old guy. He lived a life of poverty. His house was falling down round him, his water supply was so bad he had to hang a kettle on the tap and it took hours to fill. His Rayburn had no fire door and he put the coal on a piece at a time, one day when my dad was visiting him he put some beef in the oven, may dad was worried it would not cook, but Henry said "it'll be ready Thursday or Friday" this was on Sunday. Some walkers called to ask directions and saw that his telly only had a small narrow picture in the center, they felt so sorry for him that they came back and gave him a small portable. His sister died and left him £180K And when he died he left over £500K.
  18. The LA want me to do some snow blowing with my mog, so I'm hoping for loads!!!!!!
  19. Good stuff Tom!! I bet the old couple are loaded and are laughing their socks off!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. What on earth is "reject wood"??????????????? I really hope you are not just trying to discredit another nations produce too try and push your own!!!
