  1. The world of arb forums is very small (much like the industry) A lot of the guys on here frequent other sites, many of the comments are motivated by a history of other posts on other sites. Skilled professionals do not like the advocating of bad and unsafe practice, that could lead the inexperienced into very dangerous territory. And when the advocate of these techniques dismisses the advice (put forward kindly at first) of those who have the very greatest experience and skill within the industry, in a disrespectfully manner. People loose all respect for the poster and negative posts follow.
  2. It makes no difference how a business is registered, sole trader, partnership or Ltd Co, the vat threshold applies to the turnover of the business and always has. I ran 2 separate business for about 8 years, one vat registered Ltd Co, one sole trader none vat. I had to have separate equipment for both and had to be sure I could prove to the vat man that they were separate.
  3. Should this not be in the landscaping forum??
  4. Er, NO!! You would need your wife to set up a whole separate business with separate equipment, or she could hire your equipment off you at a proper rate. The vat man takes a very dim view of tax evasion.
  5. Are people really suggesting these hand winches have a 10 tonne pull capability?? Or that a load of 10 tonnes would not destroy them?? I find it hard to believe that its a 10T pull, that three times that of the largest Tiror!!
  6. Its not a license!!!!! (I really hate it when people call them that!!!) Its a "certificate of competence". The units do not have an expiry date. The HSE recommend some form of refresher training every 5 years, NOT retaking the units. Although the training providers would love your take on things, as it would nicely keep them in a living!!!
  7. Does anyone else worry about having too much support??? I want a boot that gives support, but not so much that my ankles become weak due not having to work.
  8. No, if the other stem is a sucker, as you say, then the tree still lives!!
  9. :confused1:Er no, I think you need to look at it again. I think is the site is very fair, in fact if any thing they are being kind to their competitors, often those "bulk bags" contain 0.6m3 or less.
  10. Thats such a shame. Did Mike get his hand sorted?? Any one know how Steve is doing?, he came and did some warranty work on my Chippit 25 many years ago, really nice bloke.
  11. Good post Paul!! I was concerned that things had ground to a halt, it great that you are still trying to get more of the industry involved and await launch the new "simplified" scheme
  12. Where is the "slander"???????????????????????????????
  13. :confused1:Where?????????????????????????????????????????
  14. Exactly my point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Here is an earlier thread about this and the climber posted!! http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/video-forum/589-just-when-you-think-youre-top-your-game.html
  16. No it attracts people who want to compete, there will be very many very good cutters out there who have no interest in competing. The winners of and title is only the best of those who compete.
  17. I have no idea where the filler cap is on mine, as the chauffeur always fills her up before I get in
  18. I'm a real fan of girls, but not the fat ugly ones with bad breath!!!
  19. Local Surgeons??? You'll need to keep it clean if its going into theater!!!
  20. Not sure how or why you would call boards that generally allow people to dangerously over load their trucks "safety boards"????????????????
  21. I don't think you would be doing any thing wrong by doing that, BUT you would need to be sure you can pay it back!!! If you default on a loan you will end up with a terrible credit rating, which could have a very bad affect on your future life:thumbdown:
  22. Based on what????????????????????
