  1. I agree with the second opinion, that has always been my understanding.
  2. What do you do about all the buttress roots you have cut and left in the ground??
  3. Not a great colour, imo. Would not be very visible against trees or a lawn. When I'm up the tree I like to look down and see where every one is, orange or white hats make this easier.
  4. Did you run the saw with the bar off, to see if the oil was coming through?
  5. Looks like a bark crack to me.
  6. A few years ago there was a thread about two very tall Elm's. I think they were at a collage, Cambridge may be?? But the thread was about there possible removal, so they may have gone. I think one was 160ft.
  7. A tree that has eaten a big rock (not good for your saw)
  8. Does that really make sense to you?????? My garden is full of trees, my childen spend far more time under trees than in or around cars. Around here a great many of the roads are tree lined, its a wonder anyone survives
  9. I trust you had a bat survey done mate. Looks like very good habitat.
  10. This it truly tragic and my heart goes out to all concerned. It would seem likely that this was "sumer branch drop", could those who are apportioning blame please tell me how they identify which branches on which trees are susceptible?? Last week more children will have been killed on our roads, than people were killed by trees last year And as many children will have been killed by their parent or guardians in the last three weeks than people killed by trees last year. Trees don't often cause people harm and on the odd occasion they do it may well of not been predictable.
  11. Is it not the case that most pathogens are present in the environment all the time, its opportunity (weakened tree, root damage, etc) that causes infection.
  12. This thread has some good feed back http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsaws/30763-ms201t-chain-tension.html Starts out with not great reviews, but then starts to sound promising
  13. I believe in forestry soft wood stumps are treated with urea (sheep pee) perhaps they are thinking along those lines.
  14. I don't wish to be rude, but this is stating the bleeding obvious!!!!!! And if none of us ever left stuff unattended nothing would ever be stolen, but in the real world its not always possible or we make a mistake.
  15. Germolene cures all!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. I don't normally do climbing comps, but this should be a good laugh!!! So come on lads get your name down and join in the fun!!!!!!!!!
  17. I have been loaned one of these by Bold Ed. I will report back once I have given it a go, it looks pretty good to me.
  18. The skull and cross bones represented the resurrection, it was believed that your skull and long bones were required for god to recreate you. This was is why some criminals were dismembered and the parts buried in different parts of the country, so they would not be resurrected come judgment day. The church changed this teaching after the first world war, as so many people were totally destroyed or even vaporised. This change in teaching also led to cremation becoming much more popular.
  19. The car was parked at the kennels, it seems to me that he just took the easy option leaving the dogs in the car. If we had had usual British weather he would have got away with it (I wonder how many times dogs in his care has suffered discomfort, but not died) If he was any sort of a responsible man he would have only ever left dogs in his car when absolutely necessary and for short periods, after his previous error.
  20. Personally I think its fine to change the price before you begin work and they have option to say no, customers can cancel at any time prior to the job starting, so we too can make changes (not that I ever have) But I would never ask too change the price after the job was started, unless they offered.
  21. Your post asked our opinion of the pot, I think its scrap and would not risk recking a new pot in it.
  22. Looks like scrap to me.
