  1. Is there some reason you don't discuss this with your uncles??
  2. Makes you wonder why the Disco is the best selling 4+4???
  3. I'm not sure timber thats left behind can so easily be called a waste, in these days of manicured gardens, farms with very few uncultivated areas, dead wood is in pretty short supply, a lot of wildlife will be very grateful.
  4. That was my first thought when seeing the picture
  5. ?? Read the expletive quote?????, if that is what you mean, yes I did, although I did not really need to as I had seen the report on the news and heard about it on the radio.
  6. Really you think the destruction of a few building is more "news worthy" than extensive loss of life???????????????????
  7. When I was learning to spike, I was practicing on a large dead Elm, it had been de-limbed, I was up near the top, maybe 60ft up, the guy I was working with cut a huge burr off the base. I crapped myself, when I got down there was a hole in the trunk the size of the large fire place, the tree was hollow. It was scary at the time, but taught me a great deal about the strength of timber and trees, I've never worried about trees with cavities, after all if the last gale did not fell it my 12.5 stone ain't gonna make much odds.
  8. Go read the "noisy neighbour" thread, I genuinely believe in our efforts to advance we have as I said "lost the plot".
  9. IMO, THEY are the civilised ones, its we who have lost our way
  10. Making money is about running a good business, there are plenty in all three trades making good money and plenty making nowt.
  11. Well, it generally extends their life, not sure its pretty though.
  12. Do you watch your neighbour doing a job, shaking you head, sucking your teeth and saying "Oh you don't want to do it like that" ????
  13. Whats that got to do with this thread????????
  14. Brilliant, "making you climb" We are CLIMBERS, the clue is in the job title, if you don't want to climb go find another job
  15. Not quite as simple as that. The above should be considered, BUT reasons for not using a MEWP can be presented and as long as the RA mitigates the risks of climbing to acceptable levels, alls well
  16. I find the fact that its "trees" rather strange?? If it was one tree with a major defect, I could understand it, but how were several all unsafe??? Was it a large lifting root plate made up of all the trees??
