  1. So you are talking about £275 for just you and a saw, the prices you say you are shocked by are for several men and machinery.
  2. I'm not sure some operate their business in this what seems to us logical fashion, I am constantly hearing on the news about dairy farmers who continue to produce milk at an apparent loss :confused1:
  3. I must live a very blessed life, each morning I wake and think "today I will meet an unclimbable tree" but it just never happens IME, if its to small to climb I cut it down, put on my shoulder and through the chipper in one.
  4. So you have never used any other machines???
  5. Once you have had a Schliesing, no other chipper will compare, IMO they really are in a league of their own :thumbup1: I would sooner have used Schliesing than a new chipper of other makes.
  6. No where enough information for me to give any kind of informed opinion on a cost
  7. We are giving all this money to Europe anyway, so getting a little back is no bad thing, IMO.
  8. The payments are for 20 years, so many can build them into the business plan and will be retiring before they stop. I have not previously retailed cut logs, always wholesaled the round timber, the kiln is giving us the tool and £ incentive to start retailing split wood. I will be charging a premium for my logs and marketing them as "Kiln dried" but for those who do firewood as their main business they could IMO, kiln dry and still charge the same as the guy down the road selling air dried.
  9. You would end up with a huge electric bill, far better to get a nice cheque from RHI
  10. Same hear, dries very quickly, IME.
  11. Business is uncertain, we don't know what will happen in 6 months, never mind 6 years. Look at oil, no one saw that coming. We must each plan our businesses on what we think will work for us and our customer base, but we need to try and remain flexible, its the trees that bend in the wind that stand the storm.
  12. Why do people us tumble driers, when they could simply put the clothes out on the line???
  13. People burning wet/green timber will burn at least twice as much wood for the same amount of heat as they would if the timber was dry. So kiln drying has the potential to actually save timber. As for kiln dried burning to fast, if its on a stove, turn it down!!, if its on an open fire, ask your supplier for larger logs.
  14. I'm not upset, did I say I was??????? I don't us the app, I don't like it, on my phone I just go on the normal site, so I was completely unaware that you would not get the flashy thing if your on the app
  15. You really don't know me at all I am in no way "volatile", I really was not "wound up" It was friday night, I read your thread and just thought I would start this one for a laugh and maybe get some insight into why so do it
