  1. Don't know about companies but you'll be looking at between 1000-1500 quid for C+E i'd of thought. Temp comanies are always looking for HGV drivers so you could make some decent money doing that through college to fund all your training. Would you not get at least your CS30/31 through college rather than having to pay for them your self?
  2. Nice. Get one of those Rosetta Stone German CDs. Lisen to it on the way to work and the way home. I've ordered the ISA study guide and CD so i can learn on the way to work. Make use of that otherwise wasted travel time.
  3. When you leave college you'll have CS30,31 maybe 38,39 and a maybe a few others. You need to think what will set you apart from all the other graduates. I think having you trailer licence would really set you apart. We've got 3 young lads at the moment none of them have trailers on their driving licence. Since all our trailers are 800kg upwards they can't drive them which is a real pain. Think what you want to do in the future and base your stuff on that. I do think trailers is the way to go because it will be useful in forestry, arb and conservation. Have you considered doing something like the RFS cert arb or the ISA cert. arborist courses.
  4. Nice trailer. Looks much more efficent than skidding.
  5. Good luck in your search. Prehaps the best certficate you could get would be your B+E for your driving licence. The ability to tow a trailer will put you ahead in the jobs market when your done with arb college.
  6. Get a new mid range saw 50cc ish and it will be able to cope with most things you'll ask it to do. Older saws have worn AV mounts pistons can be scored or worn so best to aviod unles you know its history.
  7. It looks seriously quick. I want one to replace the aging 357.
  8. 576 hands down fantastic bit of kit. Husky have done a good job with this one taken the 372 and made it better. Cuts like the clappers with a 18" bar on and still has the power to drag round a 24" in the hardwoods.
  9. Giant Talon 0. I use to have one and it was ace got solen from work. I recently replaced it with a Talon 1 as i could afford to spend the money for a 0.
  10. I put an 18" bar on my 660. It cut very very quickly. Won't want to use it like that all the time though.
  11. Got a similar problem with a massy. Thats about a 3k repair.
  12. Mine have lasted very well in the woods. Only thing wrong with them is where i melted the material with a 372 exhaust dressing out some larch.
  13. I'm sure there is. I just left them unsealed. I use PVA i know there are better things out there but i've pva to work quite well.
  14. My advice would be to try and lift 2 tonnes at 2m with the crane. Thats the only way to be sure.
  15. Got some drying at the moment. It seems to split if at the ends quite badly. Smells sort of fruity when you cut it. Nice for the first cut then it's not very nice at all
  16. I do an hour each way. Tend to try and stay within 50 miles of home. However i'd go anywhere if something i wanted to do came up, such as some sky lining.
  17. I have it and it's been useful when applying for jobs as people can 'see' you have the basic knowledge to opperate the thing safely. I also have clearing saw and with some training and know how it's a really powerful tool. Well worth having that ticket. Not widely used over hear but for a bit of thinning they're ace.
  18. Just seen the site. Yikes best part of a grand too rich for my blood. Still looks bloody handy though.
  19. Yes it does. Especially on a 346. I found out the expensive way. I have a Husky one but i'm thinking of a STIHL one so i can see how much fuel i have left.
  20. Cool where did you get such a tool. I rather fancy one of them.
  21. Took a year for my CS32 to come through. My last few have come through quite quickly about 4 weeks.
  22. Looking good. IS that a band saw attachment for the saw?
  23. Nice bit of kit. Someone will be happy with those. Looks like they'll cope with some big bits of timber.
  24. It does sound expensive but it is an expensive bit of kit. Try Trust.
