  1. Looks like a bit of star shake to me too.
  2. I use Huskys! Got a MS660 but thats seen alot of use this winter for the big stuff. Just for you some photos of some Huskys in the woods
  3. 1200m3 of Swedish candels may flood the market.
  4. Hi Might have a site comming up to thin, not seen it yet but got some details through today. Its got Silver Fir and Western Hemlock in it. What would i sell these off as and who would take them? I've never delt with these two species before? Guesing pulp or chipwood for the silver fir? Any help great recived. Thanks Andy
  5. For the arb side 40/41 pruning/dismantling MEWP For the forestry side 34/35 indivdual/multipul windblown tree.
  6. I know a few colleges (Chicester college for one) do a domestic chainsaw course. Covering safe use, maintenance and PPE. Much cheaper than the CS30 course and i don't think it has the legal stuff in it. Try ringing your local college to see if they do one.
  7. Seems about right. Try Adrian Flux they might be able to save you some money. I pay NFU 1200 quid for my 07 plate navara. I've 6 years of no claims pass plus and i'm 26. Insurance is a killer.
  8. Did it look like that? Thats a Stenner 41 if it's any help. Stenner will know what that one is as i've got parts for it from them. Helpful bunch.
  9. I'll have a look at the rpm of our motor on monday if i get a chance.
  10. Zurich do fleet policy. I don't have enough vehicles to have fleet insurance i have insured my house with them in the past.
  11. How big are the fly wheels? The ones on our Stenner 41 are 3' as are the ones on the Robinsons resaw.
  12. Wait till you do 32/33 whereyou put a really big awkward tree exactly where you want it.
  13. 2.4 is probally for fencing. Although i've done firewood to 2.4 too. I guess it's not too far from Bucks to Northampton. I wondered if you were over near Hitchin in Herts it looks a bit like it.
  14. Thanks. I got mine from the treesource bookshop. They do the field guide too (which is the easier one to read first). The other books are mainly tables which make sense once you've mastered the techniques. If your boss has a woodland marked for felling (thats not been started yet) check the cubic meterage on the felling licence and go measure it on your day off and see if you come up with the same answer. If your doing softwoods (you can do it with hardwords but its harder) you can work out the volume of each tree and know exactly what your felling.
  15. Looking good. Whats the wood going for? Since your fairly local who did you do it with and at what site?
  16. Looks simmilar to what they did to mine. Any idea on cost yet? Mine was about 2k with parts and labour:blushing: On the plus side there was some left over ValtraTrans oil so i haven't had to buy any of that in ages.
  17. We get our bands made to order by southern counties saws. They weld up the 18' 6" wide lenghs of steel into the band. As for teeth setting the saw doctor setting them for what we're cutting. Larch has a wider set than oak and chestnut for example. As for speed i'm not sure, ill try to look at the motor speed on monday.
  18. Nope. I was very impressed with them at the APF and the price is fantastic. Riko would do me one with the remote for 5800+vat. I'm hoping to replace a 6.5 tonne fransgard. Does the cable lay on the drum ok, get lots pinches on the cable? Sorry to derail but not many people get big winches.
  19. Big chestnut always seems to be shakey. I've done some big ones 24-36" at the butt some have been ring shaken to firewood pile. The others have been ok. I have a 6' log thats 3' at the small end with a bit of star in it but no ring. Going to make something nice from that.
  20. Nice job. How do you find the uniforest winch? Is the 8tonne electrohydraulic one? with the big butt plate?
  21. It's too far gone so it stayed as bug and beasty habitat. Got a fair few good splated bits that size in the yard to mill though.
  22. Some felling from Tuesday.
  23. Bands for our stenner are £100 and about 30 mile drive as well!
