  2. Logger´s in New Zealand,especially Skiddy´s (people who trim and cut logs to length) would get about a year from a saw. Running 8 Hours a day,using up to 20L of Fuel a day. You used to get "Chainsaw allowance" a non taxable payment that was used to buy parts and Bars.It was about 150% the cost of a new saw over a one year period.

  5. Excellent Post:congrats::congrats: Like alot of people on here,I have felled a good few large Trees.However in 17 years of doing this job.I can only think of a handfull that I needed a bar Longer than 36".And non of those were in the UK.

  9. It really depends on how you have built the Lad up.If you have introduced him to Machinery and graft at a young age and gradually built his confidence and ability then you alone will know his limits. Its a question you really need to ask yourself.
  10. Little is the operative work here Mick.Due to a 12 year olds small stature and natural fearless nature,any dangerous job with tight acess is suitable. Steeple Jack,Pipe Cleaner,Boiler De-Coking,etc.

  16. That is amazing. What kind of Bar's are you using?Are you bore cutting all day? If you buy Bar's with replaceable Nose's,thats all you have to swap.
  17. Be a good idea to sit down on afternoon and call ALL the companies in Kent.Gauge the demand for groundies/pay rates applicable with the experiance you will have and make your own mind up. Personally I would take advantage of free training to enter a industry that has a demand for workers. Best of luck with your next step in life!
  18. You need to go to a shop that sells bolts bearing a example of said required bolt. OR look online for a thread gauge,then measure the threads on you bolts,the diameter of the bolt,then the length. The tensile of the bolt might be stamped on the top.
