  1. Unspeakably Stupid. The UK Police instructor had failed his safety test,he loads a live round into a .44 Magnum Revolver in a class room, points it at a student and pulls the Trigger. He gets off with a fine, because he is a Policeman. You or me try that one in court. Police force fined £40,000 for shooting 'disaster' - Crime, UK - The Independent
  2. I have seen the effects of "I will fell any Tree for firewood" advertisments. One guy in town place an ad stating the above in a couple of local papers, the phone went dead.Anyone who saw the ad or heard about it suddenly thought the resource was worth more than the service. We dropped off about 25 Ton of Spruce logs to the guy to keep him quiet. Now our waste is profitable to him,he tits about on a sickness benefit and we don't have to pay to dump crappy timber.
  3. Tredoktoren invite climbers with a minimum of 5 years experiance to apply for a contract role during Oct,Nov,Jan and Feburay. The work is mainly Felling by dismantling, with a Hedge or Crown reduction here and there. The role would be for two weeks work per month, accomadation and vehicle provided.Flights provided or refunded to the suitable applicant, depending on their location in the UK. Work to be carried out in Bergen, wage dependant on experience. All applicants are required to submit two reference's with phone numbers. Submissions to [email protected]
  4. Looks good mate! I would forget the pressure washer and peel the Bark off with Axes and Crow Bars. The Silt and Sand has had 15 years to get into the Bark,I don't think the Pressure washer will shift it mate.
  5. They are just linked together. The Batteries were tested before they were installed.I checked the voltage going into the Batteries when charging. I think it might be the 20year old cable joining them together...
  6. Thanks for the Replies. I will reinstall the Battery thats on charge now and try it with the first Battery's negitive lead disconnected. Both Batteries were receiving the correct amps when I checked them after replacing the Batteries. So the only un replaced part of the circuit are the Cables..... I will have a look at the Cells, but I am pretty sure that they are sealed units.
  7. I had some trouble with poor starting in my car.It has two batteries and now the Battery furthest from the Alernator is running down. I have Replaced the Alernator,Both Batteries, cleaned up the earth points on the Negitive Cables. Both positive leads are clamped together each side of the Supply Cable from the Alternator.I guess that the only thing it can be is that the Cables forming the Circuit from one Battery to the other are deteriorated internally and the Current is not reaching the second Battery? Or the Earth cable on the second battery is internally knackered? Auto Electrics are a bit of a mystery to me.
  8. Thursday I was at the place I get my Chipper Knives sharpened and there was a MS170 lying there in a box.I have been trying to turn one of them into somthing usefull so I asked if it was knackered and if I could have it. The guy said take it away,he reckoned it has been fed neat Fuel and had blown the Rings.I took it home, tightend up the Spark Plug and used it to cut up some Pallets yesterday. Result!
  9. Really liked those pictures mate! Especially the ones with the Dozer, its pretty unusual to say the least.
  10. We do Trees and landscaping. The landscaping side is able to mark up the materials and transport. No one argues that the stone or cement has to be transported from the retailer and to the job site. Also no client argues that any detris from construction work has to be removed and dumped at a cost.Wether that detris goes to the dump or is burned at my mates farm for example matters none, its still a cost and is billed as if it went to the council tip.
  11. Yes I would rather carry the Tracked chipper on a Truck than trailer. Both have their advantages which is mainly the ease with which you can unload the chipper off a trailer rather than a truck deck. Also the little things like being able to tow the Tracked chipper with its Chute attached when on a trailer and it being to high when on a Truck deck. We carry the chipper on the Mog,or back of a 7.5 tonner.I have carried it on a 3.5ton Iveco and it drove well. Mostly I pull it aroound on a Trailer behind a 4X4.
  12. That would be a good idea for pulling things to the chipper. But not so good for pulling the chipper up slopes. I think I will go with the electric winch idea
  13. Sad to hear that your wheels got pinched. I remember reading that it was at the mechanics because the hub collapsed and fused.Did you hear any noise from that Hub anytime before it collapsed?

  15. Looks like you did a great job on that! I don't miss long drags and narrow alleys at all. Cheap pints and sunshine however......
  16. Whale and Thai Green Curry paste.
  17. Here are some Pictures of a very rare fine weather day in Bergen.
  18. Done it to. Even wondered why the Wedge kept being spit out of the back cut as well.
  19. I did consider a hydraulic winch. But I would like to have an Electric one so I could mount it on either end of the Chipper. The weight of the machine is at the engine end and thats where you want the winch if your pulling the machine up hill. However you ideally want the winch at the hopper end if your pulling bundles to the machine. Andy Collins suggested geting a winch that mounts on tow hitches, thats a great idea that I will persue.
  20. I am mounting a electric winch on my Jensen Tracked chipper.I would like one with about two tons of pull. Its mostly going to be used to pull the chipper up slopes and maybe drag bundles to the machine. What do you reccomend? Also I am wondering if I should mount another Battery as well? The original is pretty small.
