Second that! A lot happens within the services that the general public do not get to hear about and goes unsung and, after a time, forgotten. We should remember them more often rather than on a few days per year.

That engine had serious issues on the 352, lots of broken internals etc. Many people think that the constant movement put pressure on oil flow which lead to some failures but that should not stop it from starting. Is the fuel rack opening up, is fuel getting through to the injectors?

I did used to know of an LA who fleeted up with LPG, the lads hated it! Drop in power, reduced mileage between fills and hassle getting to the right station. Half the time they were left on petrol! EA run some of their fleet on LPG as well and they could only use one brand of garage so they were constantly going out of their way to fill up. Some years ago I ran a 4.2 Range Rover and it beat the newer shape RR with BMW diesel power for grace, pace and economy! You can't beat a V8!

In the Shepshed area we have just had a down-pore of biblical proportions. My garage used to flood until the council came to fix the drains. I knew within a couple of minutes of watching out of the window that it was time to get a brush to push the water away but gave up after 5 minutes. Had about 4 inches of water in the garage to clear up and I'm in the middle of an engine rebuild so there is bits everywhere just to add to the fun. Hailstone the size of marbles fell which made being out in it painful too!

I've a reversing sensor on the back of my Rodeo, its called the towbar! Dead handy in carparks too!

I have not found a timber that does not burn! We always built our fires so that all the brash went on the fire with the butt end into wind so the flames could "run" through the heap and then the rings went in a wall around and then onto the brash. This usually left a ring of unburnt matter which then got "turned in" - leaving nothing but a scorch mark. All done in pre-chipper days of course:sneaky2: I'm surprised that the IOM has such strict rules on elm disease tho!

I heard about this from the guys at Ross on Wye the other week. Thankfully no one was hurt although some egos where stressed and the odd hissy-fit occurred when it was pointed out the the trucks were not abused - only doing what they were designed to do! It appears that everyone is pointing the finger at someone else now!

When GreenMech were bringing in the Laski 450 (now badged up as Predator) we had a "ring pull" in place of a wheel stud which, when pull out, disengaged the drive so it could be mauled about with engine in "quiet" mode! -
Why is aluminium used and not glass fibre/wood sandwich (glassonite) for the sides etc? Be easier to keep clean, relatively light and I would have thought cheaper as well as having a flat service for advertising too.

£4k for a 21 year old 130 plus £2k for the new body and a cheap paint job is a tad high I think Ben, especially with the engine conversion. I know that good 130 single cabs are as rear as hens teeth but I would hold on for something a tad newer and mainstream. I saw a lovely brand new double cab 130 in the agents in Solihull ready done with tipper but I'll warrant the price was tidy too!

Mr Murdoch! How the devil are you, hope things are getting well with you. Last time we spoke you were experiencing some trauma - not ongoing still I hope. I understood Martins had got out of deveg - so have Fountains for the time being too. Where are you based nowadays? Welcome to the Arbtalk experience.

Can you chuck a picture or a link up? I've been around the damn things for a few years and I can't recall that as a make. Old Entec machines had a picture of a woodpecker on the infeed and the Irish distributor for Schiesling is called Woodpecker Environmental.

I've bid on a few Parts Washers on eBay for the rebuild of this Rover V8 of mine but been too tight to win. But yesterday I was contacted by a chap in Abingdon whose had sold for more than I wanted to give, his buyer had not turned up so I could have it at my price! RESULT!
