    Mike Lidster

Mike Lidster who some of you may know as the GreenMech rep for the South East of England has retired as of Friday last. Mike intends to continue to work for 3 days a week for his mate Chris Priest at CP Garden machinery selling GreenMech woodchippers within their trading area of East Sussex. Mike was formally at one of our previous dealers Clive Barford Plant as a sales speclialist and previous to that enjoyed many years selling machinery for Vermeer UK Ltd and BTrac. His colleagues at GreenMech pass on their best wishes to Mike for the future in his retirement. Cheers Mike.
  3. Petrol Head? Only when I can afford it and the bloody thing is running right. The V8 is out and now stripped ready for cleaning, heads ready for a de-coke, new gaskets ready to stop those blessed leaks!
  4. I was going to keep quiet but.................. The post mentioning the "corkscrew" thingy - the original (and the best) is the GreenMech Combi. Bog standard chipper on the rear and a wide side chute for shredding! The shredder takes upto 2" of solid material but a right fork load of green waste. If it is wet stuff, feed it little and often, if dry then get it in! With a 2in1 machine you don't have to compromise too much - either chip or shred, simples!
  5. To be honest, they are two different machines with two different uses. One will go where the other will not (through a narrow gate) One can do many things, the other chips. Think what you want to do and how much loot you have as the basis for your decision making process. I did Utility work for 17 years and we went Mog and GreenMech, (as well as two tow behinds) and the Mog, it did not get stuck off road and had reasonable road speed and could accommodate 3 people. An ordinary tractor was too slow for us and we already had a front loader with winch in the yard if required. Tracked machines were not available back in those days! But if they where - we would have had them. But for more forestry type work then I would think that a tractor/chipper combo is likely to open up more options. Like, flails, toppers, splitters, processors etc.
  6. Why should they be made to work to qualify for their benefits? They should volunteer! Why are they called benefits? I don't benefit from them! Why do we pay to keep criminals in prison when their families and extended families who are responsible for their upbringing and moral standards should be footing the bill, if they cannot then hard labour it is! Why do we value the valueless (inc football stars and their wags, soap stars and the other rich and fatuous) and underpay the invaluable (Teachers, Police, Medical Staff, Armed Forces etc) Why do we import food when we can grow are own? Why? Why? Why?............................
  7. That's what I used to do, leave as much kit in a friendly yard as you can.
  8. Whilst I agree that all we use (Police, NHS, Schools, Armed Forces etc) has to be paid for - but why do we give to those we don't benefit from. Why should we support asylum seekers? Why should we pay out to the banks? Why should we support so many people on benefits when a big chunk of them cannot be bothered to support themselves? Why should prisoners get a pension? Why should we allow crime to pay? Why? Why? Why?
  9. With that block bearing and straight blades - it has to be pale orange. If it was pale green - then it would be covered in guards, stickers and have something a bit more innovative about it!
  10. Thanks for that! Cannot see for laughing! Sweet vision tho.

    Jokes???

The teacher says to the class "Can anyone think of a sentence which uses the word IMPROPER?" Mary from the nice end of town says " My father had an affair with my aunt which is most improper!" "Correct!" says the teacher, "Anyone else?" Sally from the rough end of town stands up, "when my man is giving it large from behind, when his nuts are hitting my arse - then his in proper!"
  12. Pale orange or a darker shade?
  13. Notts City Council ran a combo like that some years ago and may do still. But consider this - as a mewp the RFL is low because it is a specialist use vehicle. To carry chip you'll be on a commercial vehicle RFL and due to the axle loadings, your capacity will be pants!
  14. Only a Mother could love that!
  15. Mr Bullman is a busy man and when these were originally posted they flew up before the mods could delete them. In order to keep the forum clean(ish) then a degree of self moderation is requested. I've reread (and laffed), but there are some which the more sensitive reader might find offensive or crude which would then demean the integrity of the forum. I'm as guilty as the next man with profanity, but, I would be upset if my kids used bad language openly especially if they learnt it on an open forum.
  16. Hi Rich,

your after another Pete, you need Pete from Ely with the white truck in his avatar! I work for GreenMech, flogging their woodchippers! Say "Hi" to Pete when you get him - he is a good chap to deal with.

    Cheers

    Pete

  17. I'm a tad confused. I would have thought that if the "no stress" device failed, then it would fail to safe ie, machine not pulling in. Not the other way around. If it pulls in at any engine speed and the only way to stop it from blocking everything is to use the controls then someone has messed with it big style. The rotor on a 190 is cast and I have seen a few which have broken chunks off, split castings and all manner of consequential damage. The 6k does seem a tad high, but your workshop may have to do a lot of extra work, like battering and welding, new shear bars, bearings, flywheel etc and if they charge labour at big dollars plus transport, collection, evaluation and quotation then you can soon reach £5k plus 20% vat. I would question that the damage is - a, not attributable to you (innocent until proven quilty), and - b, why you were using a faulty and dangerous machine after its faulty "no stress" device was reported. To be honest - why did you continue to use a machine with incorrect functions?
  18. There is a thread on here somewhere about favourite sayings and one liners - epically funny!
  19. I was recently told to turn off the fuel when the machine is switched off. This, apparently, stops a fuel flood whilst in transport. It should not be valves as they are hydraulic valves and should not need any adjustment, may be wrong, check your supplier.
  20. No you won't John. It took me 3 years to save the loot needed to get Sweet Sixteen, and that only did 1000 miles last year. Go for it anyhow - you are a long time dead!
  21. nice vid and good luck to the firm involved. I watched a Tilhill contractor brash bundling the other year on a new road scheme, and thought that that was impressive as well. Right up to the bit when the brash bundles had to be stored. They take up an awful lot of space per btu.

    Kwikchip

They have always been Tunnison or TS, branded in this country as Quickchip until Fletcher Stewart let the dealership go when TS was aquired by Salean. Eric Hunter Ltd is the firm that imports both Salean shredders and the TS range of chippers. The "Euroline" badge is a name for the Tunnisen range. Contacts in this country are Jeremy Smithers (07825 012261) and a chap called Tony, who I've met but didn't get his number.
  23. If I wasn't working for GreenMech and ran a couple myself, I think I would have the same opinion. My observations were, after-all, based on my findings having been acquainted with said machine. I've no doubt that being a popular machine (the Jensen range) that they have their merits, but, as said, I had my reservations and as a chipper I think that they are over rated, expensive and that there are better value machines on the market. Simples. I noted that a big user of Jensen machines had a simple mod done to all his machines which guarded the rod that links the safety bar to the spool valve. Why isn't this done across the range as that bar is vulnerable and only a slight bend renders the machine useless as it contravenes H&SE spec. Furthermore, for a machine that costs in excess of £35k, I think that the safety bar lock mechanism is lifting the buyers leg in terms of usability and value. I'm sorry if my view offends.
  24. I just love practical jokes like that, eyes still wet from laughing! Top find...........
  25. Good luck with the fight with your insurers. They wind me up with their attitudes. Please take your time with your hard earnt as I have soon too many people get their leg lifted with used machines at the £3k-£4k market. Expect some troubles with your purchase or be sensible and use that money as a deposit on a new machine with warranty as borrowing money is cheap at the moment.
