  1. Sorry Bolt, I was a tad confused! But now Ive got it. Carrying a tracked woodchipper on the Transit would be fine, provided that the axle weights were okay. A transit usually can carry about 1400kgs depending on model and body fitted and other kit carried. I've had other customers do that or in the back of a van. I had a customer who ran Pug vans with GreenMech1928 Safe Tracs which weighed close to 2000kgs. But this was a van with the correct carrying capacity and axle weights Could you supply a picture?
  2. Why go for a 7.5 tonner? They carry bugger all, why not go for a short wheel base 10 or 13 tonner which can carry a decent load yet are not that much more to run or buy and have more or less the same paperwork requirements. Okay, crewcabs are few and far but what is the fixation with small load carriers?
  3. I seem to remember two threads on here somewhere that might be called the Wee chipper thread or club or something to do with Gloria - they'll show you the way forward.
  4. Are you questioning the weight of the chipper CARRIED on the back or towed on the hitch. If you are referrring to mounting the chipper on the back then forget it. Not due to weight but the height!
  5. Novel, better than the usual boring stuff!
  6. Everything has its place in the market - only which market. The openings to fit the material are too small, the engine is too small and you would soon tire of making sticks to fit the chipper and the shredder is good for the bank statements etc. Sorry, but do yourself a favour and don't bother.
  7. I'll bear that in mind if anyone asks, although down to Andy Collins near stowmarket would be too far!
  8. How would I get to the pub in the Range Rover without the state handouts?
  9. Well done Burrell! Apparantly the new importer is Vermeer UK and good luck and best wishes to them for the future. JB owners have got the parts security now, non of this fannying about phoning abroad!
  10. Homegrown Timber spring to mind from Crawly way. Try Tony Saunders on 07774 447956. Say Hi from me.

    ouch

Ha, yes, the pictures please. feel sorry for you - hope the pain goes soon. Years ago, my Uncle was felling some big dead elms on a weekend in readiness for the clear up crew on monday. He got on the deck and went to sit on it while he ate his breakfast. He got stung on the privates, fainted and when he woke up they were like a Rams crackers! Had to wear silk knickers for weeks after!
  12. GreenMech started putting the vertical feed rollers on the Quad Chip over a year ago and with the geometry of blades and shear bars and the size of the infeed opening it makes feeding straight lengths of timber a lot easier and vibration free. When feeding brash into the QuadChip, the geometry of the vertical rollers can give greater crushing power and feed grip. This design could migrate onto other models as development goes on. Horizontal feed rollers are easier to design and produce especially if you have a letterbox opening. But the downside is that the timber has more room to thrash about. Turner/Gandini chippers from the 1980's had vertical rollers, some American made machines have vertical rollers, "extreme" forestry chippers have both horizontal and vertical. With horizontal rollers, grip is also assisted by gravity and the weight of the roller. Vertical rollers require thought and ingenuity to get crushing power which, maybe, some designers see as a "development cost" and not a "customer benefit".
  13. He will no doubt just put some bailer twine around underneath every cut. He appears to have it sussed, not one broken fence board. Have you seen the height of the fence boards!?! Now that is a good fencing job!
  14. Thought it was the water feature in your back yard! Nice job.
  15. Johnny! You got a shonky used machine of another make! Come back to me!!!
  16. I ran 2 GreenMechs (and 1 other) some time ago - spot on, round blades? In the 5 years I had my GMs I never had to buy another blade, but I had several sets of ordinary flat blades at silly money per set! In fact they were so good (here is where I am biased) when I packed it in, I went to work for them! The 1323 is a relatively new machine so no figures on px values in the future have any real relevance here and now. The 1323 has a 16cm x 23cm opening so can do more brash without snedding cuts and . . . . . . . . Sorry, I'm preaching now.
  17. What? the dirty car with the flat tyre? how much did it reach? Nice tractor tho!

    NHS Pah!

Dangerous ground with opting out. But why is teeth care or eyecare not part of the NHS. Why doe my taxes support groups that I do not. Why do my taxes support sports that I do not. Why do my taxes support certain "educational" or "vocational" course at university that I think pointless. Why do my taxes support laws that are ungoverned or ungovernable. Why do my taxes support MP's 2nd homes when they do not benefit me? The list is endless............................................
  19. Mr Bolam, that is comment of a true professional who knows what he is doing! However, the way the ladders are mounted makes me think of steeple jack as well.
  20. Everyone heard who the new JB dealer is? Expect an announcement soon.
  21. Who can remember the main Nottingham to Birmingham road before the M42 was built? How many times was a jam at Ashby de la Zouch outside what was Mitchels Ag Dealers and the Mines Rescue Centre where there was alow rail bridge? Must have been once a fortnight at least! At least it taught me every little "cut back" and "near through" in that area.
  22. Well done youf! Ask yur Dad to buy you a pot of elbow grease - it's good on sprockets!

    NHS Pah!

I've had some health issues since the beginning of September and I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that private health care is the way forward as the NHS appear not to be able to run a party in a vodka shop! At this point I should have a big rant about wasted government spending in the wrong departments, too many business or policy consultants, interpreters, computer systems that don't work, overpaid registrars and consultants, focus groups, inadequate communication systems, drug companies on the make etc but it would not fix anything. Suffice to say that this mornings episode of one phone call to get an xray appointment for the end of this week has resulted in a "process" delay of possibly 16 days! So should I go private or do you believe that it is fundamentally wrong and that the NHS should not be used for any "Private Healthcare" work? Ladies and Gentlemen! Your views please?
