    Kwikchip

They have always been Tunnison or TS, branded in this country as Quickchip until Fletcher Stewart let the dealership go when TS was aquired by Salean. Eric Hunter Ltd is the firm that imports both Salean shredders and the TS range of chippers. The "Euroline" badge is a name for the Tunnisen range. Contacts in this country are Jeremy Smithers (07825 012261) and a chap called Tony, who I've met but didn't get his number.
  2. If I wasn't working for GreenMech and ran a couple myself, I think I would have the same opinion. My observations were, after-all, based on my findings having been acquainted with said machine. I've no doubt that being a popular machine (the Jensen range) that they have their merits, but, as said, I had my reservations and as a chipper I think that they are over rated, expensive and that there are better value machines on the market. Simples. I noted that a big user of Jensen machines had a simple mod done to all his machines which guarded the rod that links the safety bar to the spool valve. Why isn't this done across the range as that bar is vulnerable and only a slight bend renders the machine useless as it contravenes H&SE spec. Furthermore, for a machine that costs in excess of £35k, I think that the safety bar lock mechanism is lifting the buyers leg in terms of usability and value. I'm sorry if my view offends.
  3. I just love practical jokes like that, eyes still wet from laughing! Top find...........
  4. Good luck with the fight with your insurers. They wind me up with their attitudes. Please take your time with your hard earnt as I have soon too many people get their leg lifted with used machines at the £3k-£4k market. Expect some troubles with your purchase or be sensible and use that money as a deposit on a new machine with warranty as borrowing money is cheap at the moment.
  5. It is hard for me to sound objective because of my role. But, I had one in our place and I say that I was disappointed in it in general. It chipped and tracked okay but certainly no better than its competitors. Other machines were better built, quicker across the ground, smoother on hard surfaces. I have to say that the whole package lacked finesse in its build quality, finish, equipment levels and I did not think it represented good value for money. I believe that they cost significantly more than other machines but when I see the rather poor discharge chute clamping mechanism, infeed chute mechanism and infeed roller set up then I think some one has had their leg lifted. For what they do, they are adequate................."good" in that they appear to be robust, but, is "good" a too small parameter to apply to this thread. Please expand..........
  6. Good to meet you the other day Rob. Good to have a bit of banter on site with the guys from the other crew too. I'll get that machine back from the other GreenMech rep next wednesday and get it shoved through the workshop for a service etc and give you a call about delivery. I'll talk to you and Ian from Turner's next week. Cheers
  7. What is wrong with Budgie Smugglers? I've several pairs of Speedo trunks like that - very fetching with my beer gut:sneaky2:
  8. I'm glad that no one was hurt. Which slope did it roll backwards down? that one in the picture doesn't look excessive enough to cause a "moment" when changing gear, are you sure he was in the cab and not stood beside it having a pee and he had left the handbrake off?
  9. Hey LittleRob, unfortunately, the insurance people and the H&SE do not distinguish between self employed and employed when there is an accident. In fact, the H&SE will take a dim view of "lone working". Hope you have a pre 1997 licence too as I'm pretty sure that she weighs more than 750kg.
  10. Congrats on your purchase Sir! However, sorry to wee on your chips but, even though you are self employed, you do need to update it to current H&SE spec. The seller should have advised you of the need and extra expense at the point of sale. The upgrade is not a big job in itself, but please make sure that when adding extra weight to the back, that the front doesn't get too light. When done, I hope she gives you many years of service.
  11. Try Richard Court - an independant with massive skills in the forestry machinery service industry.
  12. Surely Stobarts are just the carrier, AHS seems to do biomass as do Homegrown Timber and they use hauliers like Stobarts. Tho I did hear that certain firms were trying to "strangle" certain contractors who produced the chip so that they had to use certain hauliers who wanted to control the market of delivery!
  13. They were not 49 grand back in in 2003. Of that I'm pretty certain.
  14. I'd look at the GreenMech1323 too.
  15. Sand's TW is C61 which is an ex Martin Plant machine from Mansfield! And no, I'm not a nutter who takes chipper numbers!
  16. Reunited with Phil Lynett for Parisienne Walkways. RIP Gary Moore.
  17. Just took the kids to Magna Science Park, in Rotherham. This is the second visit - I gift aided the 1st time , therefore we get in for nought 'til christmas. One of the old steel forges has been turned into an impressive visitor center and science park with an outside playground etc for kids. The type of exhibits include many that need buttons pushed and levers pulled in four separate areas inc fire, earth, water and air. On the hour there is a 15 minute "big Melt" whereby the steel smelting process is explained with a show involving the old forge crucibles. Fascinating but I would like to have worked there! Well worth the visit for younger kids as they would find many of the hands on stuff good fun.
  18. There are quite a few Vermeer coloured GreenMechs about, if you want one that colour - just ask!
  19. Your right there! I had some 15-18 trucks pass through my hands in the 17 years I was on the tools, and not once were we offered a Taco when they were new but we always had a towbar! The other thing that amazes me is that it is upto the driver to find out if he is acting illegally and not up to VOSA to inform us! or assist us in getting it right!
  20. Define "Hire or reward" Are you getting paid by someone or hope to benefit from your activities? Then it is always for a hire or reward. You don't work for free!
  21. Yes, keep manual records all the time and a taco must be fitted and used if your vehicle is a "commercial" vehicle and you go over the 3.5t mam and not subject to any of the exemptions. Remember to keep the manual records and the taco information in the cab for the previous 28 days and if a digital taco is fitted, then get it downloaded every six weeks, analyzed for infringements and issue warnings where appropriate. Why don't the commercial vehicle manufacturers and dealers mention this when you line a a new 4x4 or light commercial vehicle. If you are a commercial driver then I beleive that new rules are impending do do with compulsory driver traing every year and that you must soon/now hold a cpc. Is that right?
