  1. Cannot a call to Sandvic help with who is the stockist? Why have Liston stopped?
  2. Sounds bad to me, could be tappets or rockers. Take it back to the agent. Is it under warranty?
  3. Blimey, was terrible as a kid. Teens and 20's was pretty shocking, seemed to wheeze all day long. But that turned out to be an allergy to something at home so I had ventolin to inhale which helped. As time went by things got better until I only needed the inhaler for the second throw of nettle pollen. Now, I'm okay. Fags seemed to help but I wouldn't advise smoking as a remedy.
  4. Not arb related I know but - what do you think causes this? I am rebuilding a Rover V8 that was in my Hot Rod. I removed it to change a load of gaskets and adjust the gearbox and then discovering that it could do with a de-coke, ripped off the heads. It has to be said that there was a lot of oil sludge about and it reeked of cooked oil! On stripping down the heads I noticed that a couple of valves had started to have the colletted end mushroom over and there is significant wear to the valve top and rockers. The valves were difficult to pull through the valve quide and very likely to have scored them out. As Rover V8 engines have hydraulically adjusted valves someone has not badly adjusted them in the past and the pushrods are all straight. Is this caused by age or has someone got a tad excited and revved it 'til the valves have bounced? (the noise of a V8 "on cam" can be addictive!) What do you reckon? Anyone got any big valve heads or indeed a 4.2 - 4.6 going cheap?

Pics? No - please don't bother as that would be scary!
  6. It's mother was a Volvo Chugga but it's Dad was only passing through town!
  7. I had a couple of mine made to my design by a local ag engineer to me and I vowed never to go to a "Commercial Vehicle Specialist" as they build to a price more than a requirement. MadMatt will confirm my views as he used to work there many moons ago. Shop around the local ag boys to you.
  8. I always go for a big FB, partly because stuff shrinks when I wash it:blushing:
  9. Ahem:blushing:should have checked my spelling - done.
  10. Knickers to you! I got do.e for not keeping manual records - 200 sobs!

    Am I unusual...

I always offer a hot drink to anyone I have in to work - common courtesy. Always grateful to receive an offering too.
  12. I rarely see commercial 4x4 tipper/pickups around. I had 2 at Barrowcliff's but just about everything else I see is a van! Keep an eye on Brightwell's web site as they auction off the EA trucks and they have some smart trucks. Don't forget though, your payload will be pants!

Don't forget - do your face first if you don't want a pain in the.................
  14. I sold a woodchipper to LandRover/Aston/Jag for the proving ground. Amazing to see all manner of stuff - some disguised and some not being trashed around the track. I would dearly love to get in the onsite scrapyard with a recovery truck. Some cars get "modified" and then crushed as they cannot be sold because the are not "approved" or crash tested!
  15. Spotted this on the M42 a few months back - is it a new Aston MArtin with a fancy paint job?
  16. Went into the factory today and spotted the new chipper mower and also a not oft seen Mac and Jason!
  17. Did you take her number? Could have been a "hook up" deal and you could have got more!

    Cut Throat

Always had the multi bladed chuck away jobby. Occasionally had a beard. But never tried the cut throut. If shaving is a PITA, try doing your face first!
  19. Gnarled, that's a fair response (I like a bit of sarcasm). :sneaky2:But I mythered a firm I met in the services on the M1 recently and they were on the EDF contract with Connaughts and got sent all over the place. So occasionally I think it is best to question the exact parameters. Fair enough?
  20. That is a fairly good question for a 1st post, who are you and who do you work for? go on, introduce yourself and don't be shy!
  21. You say East of England, do you include Lincs, Cambs, Suffolk, Norfolk or where exactly?
  22. You could try Browns at Leighton Buzzard on 01525 382439 but it is the period of hire that could be a difficulty.
  23. Jim, I'm trying - very trying. I know of Torne Valley, I lived in Tickhill for a few years - in fact the first ex Mrs Bagguley was from the village! I've great memories of the place. Any other suggestions? Sheffield or Barnsley way even?
