  1. The crane we got mostly uses trays. You would have to bundle all the hose together with spiral or kevlar hose protection to keep them organised.would be much cheaper than igus track. As long as the hoses are grouped it will work
  2. i bet there is more to the crap photos.Like a power line or such. I once got 30 or so photos of a tree to take down at a flash resort near to my base not one showed the pool that i knew was there. Only when i asked for a photo with the tree and the pool in it did it show the tree 4 metres from the pool. Cheeky bastards
  3. assuming the tank has a drain plug ,if it is in a inconvenient place you can get a hose made up with a blanking plug. Replace the drain plug with the hose and your next oil change is easy

    crane vid

Youtube is full of crane videos trying to lift too large trunk sections and then the crane goes thru the garage or house.Much safer to put it on the ground and then find out if you can lift it.

I reckon they had a purpose in mind for the trunk and the crane was not going to pick it at that radius. I would have taken off the remaining limbs and just felled the stick though
  6. Probably only took 1.5 hours from setup to drive away. Might have cost more to do it another way
  7. Their Yanks.Yanks chew gum
  8. yes it does help to have good tenants.I had an investment property for 11 years rented to a gov dept .The first tenants were great and the last were dogs whose kids applied 'art' to just about every surface there was. The rent coming in was positively geared from day one and i managed to sell it for more than double what i paid initially. However was very happy to be out of it as it was becoming a maintenance headache
  9. Invest in bricks and mortar .Buy an investment property and rent it out .The return will be better than what you could get at a bank at present.
  10. All crane manufacturer's have size and weight specs on their websites .Id be looking at effer palfinger pm atlas copma ferrari hmf and hiab etc for details
  11. my lesson in how to stick weld given to me 20 plus years ago by my then boss was 'here stick this to this' . He claimed he had taught me to weld but in reality i taught myself. After a short while i was better than him.Used to urk him no end that i could weld up a gate quicker and better than him.We would build cattle yards, fences and troughs in the Oz bush Having said that if you can do a course at the local collage or tafe i would recommend it otherwise you could pickup bad practices
  12. The tracks themselves don't mark but anything you drive through will.(ie mud , dog shit , melted tarmac etc)
  13. Yes i would have had to seek a new career path or would have carked it by now without a loader and grapple.Life is so easy if you work smarter not harder
  14. here's a better view of my heel plate when it was new. It works well but could be better with two holding spikes on the bottom
  15. mine came with a short plate i welded a longer tapered plate to it
  16. Because the tines are wide/long it wont dig in but it needs a good operator. The one BMG make is much gentler for turf . Virtually no one here has a decent lawn or garden so we are lucky
  17. the stick rake.knocked up out of whatever i had except for the tines. This is Mk 2 , the previous one was made with channel but got twisted
  18. Branch Manager Attachments ( top notch ) is an american brand.Hydraulic rotation could be dangerous on a small loader possibility of tipping over etc. The hanger version just follows you around as you drive the loader in drag mode. No buttons to push either.Just grab and drive. In a tight situation you will have to keep an eye on it. And when you get to the chipper unlike a 4 in 1 or such it's not fighting you . A decent articulated loader with a BMG or equivalent is a huge labour saver and i am amazed that so many people can't see this. I have no affiliation with any manufacturer of loader or grapple by the way either.
  19. Thats really only a lightweight drag rake. What i have is a basically a 1800 mm rhs with 12 mm flat bar welded to it and a pipe that slides inside the BMG upright.its held on by 1 bolt.Works best in float mode backwards but a good operator can also push with it without too much damage to the turf. BMG do a vertical spring tine one you can use with a 4 in 1 or slide into the upright of the grapple I will take a photo tomorrow
  20. this is where a emergency rope and descender would have been handy
  21. Another advantage of a BMG over a grab or bucket is the ability to reach over a fence and pickup logs or brash. Also you can place logs over the side of the truck without having to drop them.I have a six ton tip truck and i can stack the truck from the back with logs up to full reach of the loader on mine we can reach over a 1500 mm fence ( that's the standard fence height here) and easily pickup decent sized logs. For smaller loaders you don't really need a rotator and it is quite easy to manipulate the grapple without one. the advantage of having a longer mounting plate means that you can pickup a bigger log length ways as the weight/leverage is then closer to the loader, also keeps logs away from the hydraulics. Make a 1800 mm stick rake that slots into the upright and on big jobs hand raking is another thing of the past!
  22. Hi Mick how's the grapple working out have you had any problems with the short mounting plate?
