  1. I see Stein do a small porta wrap TD750 weighs 2 kg would be good for up the tree rigging and only costs 100 quid
  2. All you need for some light rigging up in the tree is a mini portawrap. i have used one for years mostly i confess from a MEWP. you do need a swivel on it and though i havent done it it would be helpful to have some pegs to separate the lines to stop the rope from going over itself which occasionally happens and locks it off. Of course because i am in a MEWP it is no problem going back and sorting it out
  3. Hard to see in the pics but do you have a mecanil grapple saw for this. You need to get one if you don't .We have one on a 305 effer with 17.5 metre outreach it is amazing what it can do and the speed about 2 mins between full height cut ,put down and set for the next cut
  4. the mecanil head has been a game changer for us
  5. I have made them from two pieces of aluminium sign board and used 40mm slices of poly board for spacers. then i make a u bolt out of aluminium rod which gets threaded and then bent around the basket rail so the carrier can slide on the rail but not fall off. they last 2 years then i make a new one I did have a clip on one once come off from 15 metres with a saw in it which wasn't clipped in luckily it landed in a mulched flowerbed and with no damage
  6. are'nt you just loving that loader?
  7. stay south currently its 40 plus degrees here
  8. bit like the YTS. Paid bugger all and well and truly utilised as slave labour
  9. yes but i had visions of 20 quid at least. Still by the next holiday i made sure to ask for work on a set rate.
  10. check the voltage coming into the pump. In my previous career i worked for a bloke in the water supply game .And on one site the power coming in was much to high causing the pumps to shit themselves. i have no idea why though
  11. i worked for a chicken and dairy farm across the road when i was 13 during the school holidays. Miserable bastard said i was going to get paid and after slogging my guts out he gave me a fiver.
  12. i have chipped a lot of Sandalwood. Its pleasant at first then becomes quite unpleasant to the point of wanting to vomit
  13. Last century when i was an apprentice at West Dean estate a jar of what appeared to be mercury was found whilst clearing a hedge along the road to Singleton
  14. the most sensible answer to a stupid thread as for certain there is no god
  15. on my vermeer 1800xl the drum pocket right under the knife where the chip shatters must be made of a mild steel as it concaved itself so badly i had to get it built back up and then hard faced as well. Chipper had only 1200 hours or so at the time but mostly is machine fed and we will chip very large wood as well
  16. on my Vermeer 1250 the chute had what looked like half an orange where the chip had been hitting before it eventually blew out. Vermeer Corp beefed up the chutes on the 1800xl where the chip hits but for some strange reason made the sides out of 2mm and this is where they then failed. On mine i replaced the 2mm sheet with 6mm plate and problem solved
  17. i doubt any would fit by enlarging the holes you would have to drill new ones . I tried a green tooth pocket once but the hole spacing was wrong. Laski copied the rayco tooth but used too small a holding bolt otherwise i am sure they would have been fine if the bigger bolt had been used. I sheared bolts regularly hitting foreign objects prompting a change to a multitip wheel and cutters I have managed to snap off a Rhino tooth but had to hit a bit of drilling rod to do so. Multi tip were much better than the original teeth but the rhino teeth last a lot longer and cut faster If you do change to a Multi tip / Rhino Wheel just be aware that they do wear out ( mostly the leading two pockets) and will need rebuilding occasionally
  18. I have still got the original wheel (for sale if your'e desperate) .But if you have just acquired this machine you would be better off changing the cutting system as the original cutting system was utter shite
  19. Are you still on the original wheel? I swapped to multi tip about ten year ago but now run it with rhino teeth instead
  20. sounds like you've had experience
  21. Your'e a bit off its way further than that.More like Durham to Cairo Egypt
  22. its not my pic i was just presuming
  23. Try corned beef from the tin .Yum
