  1. Just uploaded, says the quality will get better. Also I cant currently view it on my phone, not sure why. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsRiyr_Yz48]Bandit 2150 xp - YouTube[/ame]
  2. I run a 35hp petrol belt drive bandit 2150, never used a 2250. Though I have seen one working and it looked quite a good machine. 45hp diesel would have a very significant advantage over your HB20. Mine is a compromise as it is narrow access (29 inch) and remote control. If I wanted a non narrow access machine it would have to be at least 45hp, diesel. Track or wheel and remote control. I am just uploading a video to youtube so you can have a look.
  3. I would imagine over a few 12inch stumps the HB20 would be quicker. Over a day, the self propelled would be better.
  4. Close, I am actually James Bond! Also I rang Dale Kane, gave them a spec for a custom build tipper before I ordered my Brian James. No one got back to me with any details, so obviously no deal. However their trailers are supposed to be very good.
  5. I have one of the new Brian James tippers. Also chatted to them at the IOG Saltex show trying to get them to make a tree surgery body on a tipper with a half roof and panel sides from the factory. I think they are great, the indespension I had before towed as well but was noisy and fell to bits. I have used a lot of different Ifors, including the tippers and the new ones (in the last 5 years) the build quality is shocking. They are simply no where near as good as the Brian James. Saying that I have only very briefly seen the new style Ifor tipper, never used it (it did not look very good though) [/img].
  6. Running three teams should be cheaper (per man, per day) than one team. Better negotiations when you want three chippers and a grinder or new trucks. Cheaper rates for training multiple people, bulk buy chain reels and oil, fuel bowser at the yard etc.
  7. Ring bark or fell all of them, then go back in three months with a telehandler and have a monster burn up. Should get hot enough then to burn all the timber too.
  8. Sounds about right to me. £125-150 per team, ie truck and chipper. The extra to run the grinder when that goes out (assuming it is not every day) I reckon I am at £130-140 (more if the grinder goes out) + wages, but that includes major purchases. Though I don't pay for a yard which saves 2-3k a year for me.
  9. At that money a 130 tipper could be bit of a gamble. Stay away from the navaras at that money unless they have receipts for a new engine. I would have thought a transit is the most reliable option on that budget but 30mpg may be a bit optimistic.
  10. I dont know anything about treesltd or his truck, but is looks tidy enough to me and Santanas are well regarded. Though going on the stated weights can only pull 3ton, which may rule it out. Have you mentioned a budget in this thread?
  11. Cheers for your input and honesty Nick, I have considered running a HGV a couple of times and always end up thinking it is not practical or economical for my situation (which is tree work, not timber hauling) You have confirmed that I am probably right. Without getting in to hauling other products, like you do, I think there are too many negatives for me.
  12. I would just grind through the tarmac and allow a few sets of teeth for the job, will be far less messy and time consuming than digging them out.
  13. Do you do a lot of motorway mileage Harry?
  14. How many slabs have you bust pulling that back out?
  15. Another quick video from the end of a Lime pollard this morning. Remainder of the chip is from Wednesdays job. Still got near on 6m3 capacity with the chipper in there. I tip it with the chipper still strapped in. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuBzbsTSJqU]Bandit 490 xp - YouTube[/ame]
  16. Oi, what are you doing posting that on a public forum! Giving the game away. The best thing is I can take the grinder, big steps for some hedges, pole pruner etc in the trailer. + Enough gear to take down pretty much any tree in the truck which stays nice and dry. Perfect for the "Oh, can you just............" jobs. How much fuel does the CS 100 drink? are they the same engine? B&S 18hp?
  17. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPLxQrg9-Ew]Bandit 490 XP - YouTube[/ame] Just finished uploading this video from last week, not sure why the cameraman chopped the footage where he did. It had the last piece fine. Also that is being made to look like hard work as I am short at 5'6. It is 10x easier to load on the floor.
  18. Yeah they are, wish I could afford a chinese one. The ones on ebay look like they are really well made! Not at all a cheap lash up. Yee haa Should give your literally minutes of quality chipping power.
  19. What sort of time scale are you looking at?
  20. Unfortunately that is not true, there is no such thing as interest free finance. You just happen to pay for the interest on the total. If you see interest free finance it is a good bargaining tool if you are paying cash. Assume you can get near on 10% discount on anything if you see interest free finance is available on the price.
  21. Its a good job Bandit make chippers and not sports cars then.
  22. He was not being pulled, I don't think! I quite often get someone to belay me up a stem when I am spiking after lunch. Perfectly safe, go to your local rock climbing centre and get a lesson in top rope belaying if you do not know what I am talking about.
  23. I tried looking for info but struggled too. Had a quick chat with someone on the stand. It sounds like there are less than a handful in the UK. He did give me the name of a business that owns one. PM me if you want the name to ring them. It would almost certainly be a write off second hand too.A real struggle to sell on. If you do buy one please let me know how you rate it. Cheers
  24. Were you at Saltex? I am still mulling over the one with 63 hours on it. Very tempting at that money. I thought it looked quite good. Never used it though. However the feed table is very long and the safety bar looks like it may be a pain; the way it wraps under the feed table. The rest of it looks pretty solid.
  25. The red bit is wrong It is exactly a reflection on his company. The people who owned the tree were paying your boss, not you to carry out the work. You sound like a nice bloke, offering to pay is is a nice gesture. However trivial accidents like that happen occasionally and your boss should sort it (I assume he did?). He runs the business and all of these things are charged into his day rate, or if not they should be.
