I had it a few years back , you can still feel where they where now at times , not some thing I would ever want again! Try and take vitamin pills and not drink as much to keep the immune system up. Pretty sure mine was brought on by stress of been robbed and moving.
  3. I nearly flattened mine a while back .. came damn close , I had just commented how he never gets in the way as well. Also loading up the forwarder he got hit when I swung a grab full of timber and one log flew out and hit him! , he ran all the way to the truck and hid, was terrified I had broken him but was fine ! Never goes near the crane since.
  4. That's what I've done , as grey got says it's instantly recognised on sites.
  5. On the right trees definitely, but I don't really like it as I'm used to reducing trees from the inside out I find myself over pruning in a cherry picker at times.
  6. Doing a big tree can be a bit like doing a hedge off steps though it's quicker to surf it than keep repositioning, small/medium prunes ,RJs fells and big trunk dicing it's good. If I had skyhucks hiab trailer I would not want a mewp either though.
  7. Don't mention mewps to skyhuck ! The man shits carabiners and climbing rope ...wears spikes as slippers around the house too.
  8. As often as I can. Its paid for and quicker so why not... can't think of many jobs where it slows you down if any.
  9. I did a 150 mile round journey in our landy 130 with a cherry picker on recently and wanted to pull over and shoot myself starting the trip home... made me realise why I hate land rovers so much , cramped, noisy ,rattled to bits and all over the place driving I'd rather drive my 13 year old l200 tipper although l200 seats are crippling for your back.. any 4x4 that puts your knees above your spine is but atleast you can move your arms and don't get claustrophobic and white finger holding the steering wheel in one.
  10. I maybe have only 15 -20 tonne of that size .. In keilder ...so haulage would kill it and to be honest I was saving it to mill ,I would of parted with a trailer load if it was a small project, I can ask around as a few of our sellers have sites around the country but the haulage may kill it from up here.
  11. What's your location and how much do you want?
  12. It does doesn't it Gary ? We where wondering what it was , possibly a skidder all the ploughing was done usually with crawlers though and pretty effectively.. so not sure why there would be a plough on this .. The photo has come out of the attic at keilder castle F.C offices , a friend is trying to save them from neglect, he knew most of the locations and machines but no idea on this one... some amazing photos though of forestry from the 1920's till 80's.
  13. Better ? It's exactly the same I thought !it is identical.. just the bar mounts and clutch and housing are different... the crank could possibly be longer.. I do have a 562 block in the shead but was too much of a pita to change the running gear!
  14. Keep it under cover ! You dont want rust and shite over the clutch and main plate causing it to slip.. very easy to strip down and clean up the parts though... worth taking out a copper mallet if it's not been used for a while to bash the main shaft to get it to release as ours sticks for a while if not been used.. if you decide to strip it and clean it up make sure you get the free spool right you should be able to pull the cable with out it binding and try and keep the grease off the main plate!. There was a thread on rebuilding one recently on the forum..
  15. How much elm do you have bill?
  16. That's why you do it ? , how childish ... IMO like a thief saying I just take it because I can.. it would just lower opinions of you, so you have set out to do what you have achieved if that's the reaction your looking for. I started a thread on this years back because it really boiled my piss when it blatantly was not the home owner who had put the application in it was me the agent , the name in the company of the agent on the application is a bit of a give away as to who undertakes the work.... it only really affected me once and despite turning up with a huge tracked chipper to do the job and finding it already done , I knew never to book in work through a certain guy again and if I did charge fully for the tree report and application .. unfortunately that's life though , full of wankers who will try and take your livelihood , your tools , your girl,The shirt off your back... the tree word although is definitely no different. It's great though In hindsight at least it makes it clear who the wankers are... another point is if you don't know the client and you make the application make it very clear they will be billed fully for it and any additional reports if needed for the work if you don't get the work otherwise if they accept your quote it is free... sort of.
  17. Watch those thumbs ! And get some plastic wedges before you tear a saw of its mounts/ carb .... I thought I was harsh on saws !
  18. Seal the ends and try and keep it out of the heat , I've had cherry milled in late summer warp and crack to the point it's unusable!

  20. How are folks getting on with there's ? considering ebaying mine as I've not used it in a while , basically all my ropes have conifer sap on now and although the device is great no sit back and tends well it really does not like sap! Unfortunately living in keilder forest spruce and pine are bread and butter! Shame as it's a real nice climb on reductions and felling broad leaves.
  21. Only noticed when I started cleaning ! That could be hard stubby especially on the next 3 up?
