  1. To me mate as I’m pedantic like that ... I could not work out why they felt different as I’ve had three previous pairs and they gave me no bother at all from new, the last pair nearly crippled me after two days and I was back in my old ones just to walk!
  2. Joe Andrews as spiking boots the Andrews are at the bottom for me ,I always looked for a reason not to wear spikes and the thought of spending a day on a pine spar with them on makes me wince ..they are great climbing boots don’t get me wrong probably the best I’ve worn until they slightly altered the design... I sold the last pair I brought after a week of using them ... just could not get on with them, I’m on my second week with the pfanner Pilates which at £180 quid and as soon as I put spikes on it made me remember what great spiking boots pfanner made , I could be in spikes all day and not know they are there, they also have the cut out tops , granted they feel a bit bulky in comparison to the Andrews but that soon goes. If you do get the Andrews the SRT loop needs lock tight on when you assemble it. Old Andrews , new Andrews and the Pilates to show you what I mean about the rear heal tops .. it’s a must for a climbing boot and what made the Andrews in the first place so good for climbing

    Ticks away!

Pfanner saw trousers have tick guards.
  4. Changed my too sordins on the husky tech and have been fine since.
  5. Am I imagining that I have seen Protos have made a peltor ear muff adaptor ? Can’t them online.
  6. Swapping oils ?? Yeah no bother , just don’t expect a smooth transition if your switching to an alkylate fuel or back to pump fuel ...saying that if the saws not done much and is less than a few months old that would probably be fine too.
  7. I had a guy knock on one of our lads doors in the evening saying he was our company and would he like the conifer at the side of his house topped ... “no your not coz I work there full time was his reply”.. guy made excuses and ran away! I can think of at least two or more occasions things like that happened.
  8. A bit more durable material than gortex i recon .. have to treat them as Justin says but can get away with every other wash if it’s not too deep, I end up wearing them like a normal work jack and getting holes in them which is no good when it rains!
  9. I saw a video of this or a similar tajfun set up working but could not find it for this thread... looking pretty good.
  10. Klimba air is not .... the nanosheild would be if you only wore it solely when it rains , and treated it well I had the Ventura and it was good for about 6 months image the nano is just a cheaper version but same fabric.. good jacket but pricy.
  11. I would seriously check over the rotar nose shafts for any wear too whilst at this point , wear will make the difference between 50hours and a rebuild or 600 and counting from experience.
  12. What do they compare like price wise to a lasco ?
  13. Never been to an Arb shop like it! Definitely worth a visit.
  14. Just looked at his machine and it’s 17t not sure where I got 22 from.
  15. Would say you would want around 20 tonne after chatting to a guy the other day... he brought a 22t jcb with the intention of doing the same but it’s just sat in the yard and used for loading chains and digging drainage when they have to de bog machines instead , but as he said it won’t take a lot to fit a winch to it.
  16. No wind yet , just started snowing ... that wasn’t predicted!
  17. Arthritis , bad back and a constant worry about giving up smoking ,drinking and women... the only pleasures in life for your health ... 41 last week and I thought I would be working till 70 a few years back and I’m questioning it now....your in your prime J
  18. Even if you have sound fins , I forget the hours they recommend to change but they are worth changing as a pair to prevent what happened to yours from happening again... last bearing change I had the mechanic told me this was the cause for most of the premature bearing wear and big failures was people trying to keep the fans on with uneven wear until they fail completely. I’ve had 6-7 rebuilds on 5 different TW and entecs which over the 20 or more years I’ve been using them isn’t bad.. the last one by the guys at greenlay in cramlington was absolutely spot on , 18 year old chipper came back feeling new.
  19. Yeah there is a few... not something I know much about but there are a few around up here anyway. Low impact and don’t blow hydraulic oil every where so good for sensitive sites.
  20. And yew ! Don’t forget them being protected as well mark.
  21. Worked with bill Peirce and his friend jo yesterday dismantling this beech , sadly I missed out the horse moving out the timber for the mog, kindly he sent some pics of what I missed. Apparently they had an early finish too!
  22. Would this fit the echo? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F123284157274
  23. Have worked with Dave a lot over the past 6 months and can vouch for him for being hard working, tell them a bit more about your self mate.. I would offer him full time work in a shot if I had if for him.

    How Bad?

What puts me off a lot of these bespoke conversions is the tool boxes in the chip box.. another classic example here. It’s a great advertisement for all my saws are in here please smash the locks off and more importantly half your chip capacity gone.

    Rare rim sprocket

I’d be careful , I run 3/8 on 550’s and have put an 8pin on , Saw bogged out a lot more on any timber. Just converted a 560 back as well.... I don’t think there is all that it in and it’s a pita having to remember to put an extra link in.
