  1. I think they did release it as never give an inch in different country’s , hard to get a copy as Paul Newman didn’t agree with old growth logging later in life and tried to get his film banned.. or so I have heard. Agree stubby the book is better ... the film is good though despite the American theatrical trailer for it makes it look horrific it still sort of shows the characters in the way kesay portrays them although I think the book is better as it shares there thoughts.
  2. Every new saw the tonnage goes up.. I’ve been a rack and a half ahead by the end of the day with a 560 then swap with cutting partner on a 357 and it about evens it self out by day two .. problem is with any thing that burns bright dies quick. I would take a 562 any day over another saw for hand cutting.
  3. Some times a great notion , the book is my favourite... the film to me is gold.. Basically about a family of loggers trying to fill there current contract, the union has all the other loggers on strike but the stamper firm who “never give an inch “ carry on logging to the anger of the town...in this scene hanks just had all his logging equipment sabotaged and burnt out by the union so he takes his revenge ! Gonna have to watch murphys war later !
  4. Bill they are yours if you want them mate.
  5. [emoji1303] I rate them mark but they have changed the design and I’m not getting on with them climbing... or wearing in general ! They would of been my 4th pair, fancy a change
  6. Any body want a pair of Andrews size 43 worn for 9 days so in good condition virtually new £150.
  7. I came off a weigh bridge the other day thinking I was going to get a ticket , I was surprised I was still 150kg under so I don’t think transits are as bad as they are made out... mines ancient as well done over 180k on original engine and never needed any welding , I have had ones that have fallen apart and left the rear chassis on the drive attached to the chipper at 7 years old ! I would definitely look at an Iveco next time though.
  8. Ballast the front wheels with water and anti freeze could that be an option ? you just need the right valves.
  9. You could try counting the old ones ?
  10. Mines 116 dl on a 395
  11. Against a ported 395 same chain and bar for comparison... wasn’t much in it
  12. Aye mate , nice saw ..... probably the loudest saw I’ve used ... ever , that video gives no justice to the DB it produces ! I have made a point to spud that I like my hearing for future saw tuning reference! Didn’t you get the exhaust stateside and spud did the porting ? Seem to remember it had no baffler at all and was just straight through with twin ports.?
  13. Whippet with beddlington terrier ... apparently!
  14. Thing is ...after the 572 ,560 I would say two years if they are saying end of this year. What are your sources for that too as all the dealers I’ve spoken too say there is nothing in the pipe line. Cheers [emoji1303]
  15. Any thing close over roofs I’ll balance it and pull it up and over in smallish bits that a groundy can lift or go big and crank it up on the lowering device , still with a tag line to stop it spinning and gain a bit of control to guide it in to the DZ will help. Kind of like this
  16. Thing I remember bout that 3120 is it permanently burning off the plastic chainbreak ... not much fun with a dodgy clutch spring up a tree! They should of put a metal one on, I seem to remember those being adjustable too , definitely a wheel of some sort of my first 266.
  17. 3120’s have been husky’s biggest saw for around atleast 30 years .... maybe time for a new model... I hope they do. My old man with his late 80’s , newish 3120 sporting the standard ppe of the time ear muffs ,vest ,jeans and Oregon greens.
  18. Didn’t think the 661 was a bad saw but Was really surprised to hear that there was no 595 or 590 in the pipes, Mark your the second dealer to tell me that so will take it as a given...
  19. Probably in the next few weeks...I’ll get it out and give you a shout.
  20. A genuine 288xp??
  21. The old landscaper with an injury who was once a climbing expert ! think you made the right call without winching it ... ash under compression this time of year will usually barbers chair. Maybe it’s best to go away and have a think about the job get the gear staff and plan sorted and go back. I would probably go rig and tag line.
  22. I think the last ones came off production line in the last few months .... was toying with the idea of a new 395 whilst my local shop still has some but fancy something more modern... hopefully picking up a used 3120 soon though.
  23. Small saws yes , especially top handles but this 460 just chucked it out the back like it wasn’t there... maybe in a kick back scenario or run down it would of ? Even made a few more cuts before coming down and taking off the clutch cover and bar ... there was a little bit of thread wrapped on the drive sprocket but it had gone through every layer of Kevlar in the trousers like it wasn’t there.
  24. Once dismantling an oak in blizzard iconditions with a 460 on a 25” bar the wind was blowing saw dust straight back under my visor so I was sort of doing a cut virtually blind... I think I had dropped down in to a crutch to give my feet a rest off the spikes so was in a bad position too... the only thing that made me stop cutting was feeling snow on my leg as the 460 was eating the trousers and pulling them up my leg and was just throwing the Kevlar out the back that I also noticed with my squinty eyes .. I think I had also misjudged how baggy the trousers where and had maybe pinned them selfs a bit higher than my actual knee was but basically that saw would of just carried on cutting regardless... tbh I was glad it was snowing after that.
  25. I would use a pinto than a hitch climber , rated a lot higher. Hitch climber 36kn pinto 50kn hitch climber is ok on double rope loading but not sure how much I would trust it on a single pull... maybe I’m being well to over cautious!
