  1. Said it before Jonny, posche 280 or if you have a bigger tractor to lift it a 360, you probs need a log deck on the 360 though with the size it will handle but we used to cut all Arb waste in the 280 I have not really used the 360 so much in Arb waste.
  2. I would be checking defras web site, unfortunately I’ve never seen a grant for a tractor ,timber trailers , processors , cranes etc but never a tractor.
  3. Personally from having long hair myself I would let her try the protos first.. it seems to be designed for people with short back and sides, the ear muffs are even worse with hair around them and neither will the cradle fit.
  4. She not anti vaccine but there are some interesting facts like service men and the Italian elderly who where inoculated against flue with a new strain of flue virus which contains dog covid DNA where all 33% more likely to get covid 19... I’m not a believer of every thing she said but when you lay on the table how and who create vaccines and it’s worrying that there are lots of underlying bullshit about the virus I think you would be slightly ignorant not to question the vaccine at all. I know two people elderly folk now who have apparently died of covid or so it says on there death Certs but there family and every one around them thinks they didn’t have it all, they are just making up numbers. Any way wtf do any of us tree cutters know!
  5. Lost some courgettes and had the tips burned off the top of the potatoes with frost a couple of weeks back in the tunnel.. would not surprise me if we got a frost now still , had snow a few years back late may. Have found using firewood processor saw dust from hard woods makes a good mulch in the poly tunnel though and means it only has to be watered 2-3 times a week as it holds in moisture around the plants and means I’m not weeding it every other day too.
  6. Spent the day finishing off cloches for the carrots and brassicas, hopefully put an end to root fly and caterpillar problems! Got some carrots out the poly tunnel.cows enjoyed the ones that had gone to seed.
  7. Bastard service tree?
  8. I don’t think any of you watched that all the way through, in fact I know you didn’t [emoji38]
Judy Mikovits. Im sitting in the fence about the vaccine, to much does not sit right and although I think the 5g conspiracists have mental problems if any of this is true ,and it has been taken down every time it’s posted ... which makes it more credible.
  10. I will add that was after 8 pints i recalled that bit of info from so may be total bollox.
  11. Hmm, maybe will be better for the contractors though and a get out clause to keep the general public out.. i was told under the FISA guidelines any person in the Forest was allowed to use your facilities. Maybe they didn’t think the contractors had enough problems with tools on mountain bikes and ramblers entering the DO NOT ENTER zones in felling sites.
  12. Brought the fell hunters a few years back when we where winching big Douglas wind blow of a hill site and needed a bit of support but unfortunately due to it being summer I could not bring myself to wear the socks to break them in! Then last year when I broke my ankle I found the extra height and support has been great, I could not of worked with out them ... until then though I was on pfanner pilatus ,which where great for my aching feet and corns! I would be wearing them now if they had more ankle support but that was why I did like them as they where nice and manoeuvrable boots for climbing and walking before my incident.
  13. I’ve ended up wearing these Profell Expert Class 3 Chainsaw Boot (AT35500) ARBORTEC.COM PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Features: EN ISO 17249 Class 3 (28m/s) Chainsaw protection EN ISO 20345 Handcrafted boot Fully waterproof Steel Toecap Puncture resistant midsole Vibram® sole The Profell is a durable boot designed for foresters and arborist alike. To ensure the best level of protection the Profell is certified to C after trashing my ankle last year, they have been great for recovery as they are the highest boots with the most support, I originally brought them when we where winching Douglas fir wind blow off an impossible site but they just never clicked at that point as I found lower cut lighter boots with caulks a better option in the extreme heat of summer I could not bring my self to wear thicker socks to break them in... I guess that is the problem with all work boots though! Saying that the pfanner pilatus where comfy straight out the box, especially for my corns ... I just need high boots or my ankle aches a lot more. Would be interested to hear anyone’s feed back on lavero boots??
  14. I’ve always found Meindls to narrow.
  15. They will stay quite squat if exposed to wind too ...sorry should of read the OPs request a bit better on tree spacing in my original reply.
  16. Remember one of my groundies getting smashed on ketamine, he was staying at his parents and had borrowed there car and had got a parking ticket whilst picking up more drugs, virtually crash landing his step dads old Range Rover in the street.. he begged me to pay it for him or they would of kicked him out..I did on the premise he rained his coke and ketamine binges in. After numerous entertaining stories like the one where he had done loads of acid and one of his mates had fallen asleep under a landy 90 in a k hole at a rave to get his head ran over he finally ended up doing 12 months for robbing a drug dealer at knife point and some how stabbing him.. I think he would of made one of the best climbers I have seen but what was a complete liability in his night life.
  17. Had one that ran like a dream , it was very reliable..totally faultless and would run like clockwork, the other two must of been Friday afternoon jobs as they where not right from new.
  18. The left wing press could of saved it for a bit longer, they may of missed the opportunity to properly blame all this on there foes with Durham and Sunderland just starting to explode with covid cases, highest in England at the minute ?? , now with out a proper lock down and it reaching there peak in these areas it will be interesting to see how it pans out... as usual London does not give a fuck about the north could of been a big vote winner.
  19. Seems like a normal 266 then ! Have no idea what causes them to run like that though, some will run fine others could be never ending trouble from new , seem to remember venting the tank would help start on a few of the ones I had... hopefully Andrew@adw will be along shortly and solve your problem and the mystery of the pita 266.
  20. Have used Holm oak and Scots pine as well for hedging if you fancy trying some thing different.... I would plant two lines staggered at 50cm apart and plant young whips 1- 2-ft sort of size. If you prep the ground keep them watered and mulched they will establish them selves very quickly and out grow bigger plants unless you buy 6ft ready made hedge which will be expensive.
  21. It will be the rain , east anglia lost lots of big beech In the 80’s and 90’s due to drought, they don’t tolerate the dry at all , a very temperate tree.
  22. I’ll save that for future reference josh.[emoji1303]
  23. Bollocks Dave , you have not seen that foot path , metre wide for most of it and 200 + people from town coming in and using it sweating there bollox and rubbing past people is hardly social distancing , not great for the environment folk pissing and crapping in hedges with no facilities open , not good to have these people then go in to shops that people in the community are using to survive to get a drink of water after there walk... then there are dick heads coming in to keilder wild camping and having fires ... we have had no rain for months so that’s hardly a great idea, but that’s ok it’s there right , fuck every one else and let the whole lot burn hey ... then I’ve got people walking through my yard with there dogs off leads which offends me after loosing ten sheep to inconsiderate town dwelling idiots who think that’s except-able... then they are going through our gates which we have to open and my partner being a carer has to isolate for her clients so has to double think about what she is touching constantly as so does any one else in this house hold, as I really don’t want the deaths of vulnerable people on my conscious. But fuck it hey as long as they are not bored... I will say it one more time , if people could actually do as they where asked in the first place we would not of had lock down... now we have all lost out just so people can continue there jolly boys outings putting others at risk.
  24. Exactly how I feel about our fishing club , lots of people using it like it’s a recreation ground ,I have no bother with the locals using it but there are people who are clearly not... god help us if England ever gets the right to roam crap Scotland has.
  25. Best post I have read in ages on the forum , you need an award for that bit of writing Mick. Definitely needs putting up on the arbtalk face book group to be appreciated by all. [emoji1303]
