  1. Is the water dropping much in the finally the lack of rain we have had ? Are the trout Triploids?
  2. Never had any real issues with the mk1 550 never had any with the 261 it just didn’t feel a better saw in the woods , there is a rumour a 261 replacement is on its way but if stihl have shut down that could be delayed... or you will pick a 261 up cheaper in the future.
  3. Does that mean 3.5 t vehicles ? I’ve got a Landy that’s plated at 3.5 coming up next month and we where just talking about what to do with it.
  4. This one Jamie, vid should work , was just a quick clip of it in action with no other friction device , showing what it will do really...
  5. Out of all of them I would use the safe bloc the most, it’s the most versatile and has the most point.. best tool for rigging compromised trees in my view. Capable of stopping a decent lump too
  6. Here’s the thing , we have two surveys on the books left in and I’m tempted to do them today , in light of recent storms and they are in heavily used public areas I would argue it’s essential?
  7. If you drill the nose it will clamp the sprocket and damage or at worse seize and shatter it.. just the same as setting the mill clamp to far over the sprocket ....I can’t work out how Daniel has successfully done this , just does not work from my experience.
  8. Do you know what it needs Pete?
  9. Blade runner Some times a great notion. Bridge too far Battle of Britain
  10. Haha on closer inspection I recon B looks like “what bastards put nails in this tree, I hope there is no more “ ....by the filings around the vice and the cuts.
  11. TIMBERWOLF JENSEN SCHLIESING GREENMECH WOOD CHIPPERS & STUMP GRINDERS ROVER.EBAY.COM VARIETY OF GOOD USED WOODCHIPPERS & STUMP GRINDERS FOR SALE. 2013 REFURBISHED RAYCO RG13ii/CAMON STUMP GRINDER £1800. one on this listing in the discription.
  12. I was welding the main housing under the chute where it bolts down I think it actually fully snapped off , you could not drive with the chute on as it was too much weight on the main casing , pto pump mount was bad as well and by the time I sold it there was stress cracks going all over the main flywheel housing!
  13. I’ve never heard bad things about there 9” machine but I had a 6” with twin feed rollers and I’ve never owned a chipper with so much down time , it would fall to bits virtually in front of you ! Metal fatigue was so bad it would mean bearings shafts and pumps would need continuously replacing, and welding up .. any way west con equipment where the dealers or could get the parts but like most machines you can get pumps and bearings off the shelf but I definitely got one or two shafts off them... so basically from my experience and friends who owned the 6” run a mile would be my advice.
  14. What machine kevin? I spend a day a week on Machinary, trucks and saws ,often wonder if it would be better paying a fitter a day a week as my knowledge is limited... thing is though I’ll know I’ll do it right what I can do other than pay for dubious at best for services that leave machines more prone to failure.
  15. 540 is alright to strip down and rebuild I’ve done one with no issues , I don’t find any of the husky auto tunes bad to be honest ,having done a few 550’s and 60’s too. I wish I could say wow echo they are so reliable but I’ve owned and own a few now and they don’t seem to be.
  16. Yep they do feel good in hand , they just feel like they belong .... but I took down a large spruce recently with the last one running ,I had and was going to keep for nostalgia reasons ... half way through I wanted the 540 back on and decided to get rid and put towards a ms400 c
  17. Got on to thinking after the escapade the other day with the hydraulic pump blowing it’s back out again that maybe on an average year the crane is dropping and dripping probs about 15 litres of oil straight in to the floor , not good especially if it’s in concentrated areas where we are processing timber or that a lot of our sites are near water courses. Would like to know folks opinions if they are running or have ran it in there machines ,Especially if they have had problems!
  18. I brought the 660 kit as some thing to do , changed the crank bearings and sills for genuine along with carb boot and fuel caps as there’s leak and it was alright .. sold it after a month or too so will never know how it lasted... Don’t really get why any one would want a 200t or the mythical status they have .. just sold my last running one and any left over carcasses I could find .. they where shit on the day they came out and where just as shit and unreliable in the last models off the production line and possibly the worse vibes of any top handles bar the original 020 it replaced.
  19. What would lock down entail though ? Could you say travel a few miles down the road and go fishing ? Sounds mint to me if so.. I could stay in the yard at home and get enough fire wood cut and not be short like last year , cut a load of larch for the poly tunnel and make raised beds and generally get a load of things done I should of years ago!
  20. I’m guessing this is clay under the surface and self sealing ? Originally there was a small pond dug for ducks but it would not fill as land drains just quickly emptied it and they could not block them ,so it’s ended up at quite a pathetic size and level to the left and lower is where I was thinking. There was a water course that’s been diverted so I was thinking dig then redivert to it’s original course.
  21. Have you recently replaced or refilled it bill?
  22. Looks great , how long did it take and what equipment did you use to create ? I will be putting in planning for one one soon so just a few hints would help.
