  1. offer cash or half and half....most seem to be glad to help you out if they are gonna get some beer money other wise its just more tax on them..steer clear if they seem the sought who lost us the empire type. council small holdings would be your best bet as they genuinly dont make the money of the larger land owners and tend to be more down to earth people
  2. My old man had a u900 and 1000 they were not bad machines what they lack in speed is made up in there off road cababilities and been able to power large chippers......... he just spenr the last few months before crimbo driving this around for a firm from suffulk harvesting christmas trees at kielder forrest....he did not like this set up as it was very top heavy especialy on the terrain they were on.... [/img]
  3. well you have told us in great detail of how you secure your new chipper so now we just need an adresss now........ its good to know what part of the country we are all from so we can help each other out if needed....or evan for a beer
  4. Out of all the throw lines ive used i like the new england best, nice and supple and silky smooth. I like to have a range of weights as well, usually a 10oz and 12oz stored in the faltiemer on either end of the line for different situations. Prefere heavy wights for hand throwing and lighter for the big shot
  5. very true words reg, that whole post was spot on
  6. Im executing the next person who trys then chipping them down my mates pig farm, if i catch them, sick of the sub human *****,what pisses me off more than any thing is you dont evan have the right to defend your property in this shitty country
  7. i dont think any of them have been butchered in my opinion, but i can see what your saying the one on the right is a bit harsh, maybe it had big cavities? ...bleeding canker aint a good reason to reduce though...although this year ive seen the infection settle down a bit...this time last year i thought it would be the chesnut epitaph now
  8. its a pain carrying a great big sling around a tree, only easy if it stays clipped on the lowering rope and pulled up to you!. somtimes ill carry 2 small slings so i can rope off multiple branches in one hit, that works nice as you can use the weight of the first cut off branch to make hinges work better on the other 2.
  9. looks good nice quality.
  10. usually i will do a half hitch then choke the log with the biner....or if theres a union to grip so it cant slip off just choke it around like the tip rope pic,on bigger bits of timber i prefer to try and balance the log with a sling then just cut send down and back for the next bit, quick and easy...have had a couple of nasty experiences years ago using half hitch timber hitches on big bits where both knots have failed to grip and have lost big bits of timber slipping out.........but maybe that could be due to the groundy letting the rope bite on full swing after letting it run!not that i told him to do that! i find a sling quick and easy and havnt had one slip out yet....whys that mate have you spotted a weak link in my methods? also and from my fingers and the log splitter incident,id rather just throw a sling around than fiddle tying up knots!
  11. some tip ropin over roofs [/img]
  12. ash tree take down from today had to be all roped out apart from stem. [/img]
  13. gave up smoking 4 years ago never felt better and feel my life is no longer a graveyard of ambition........well maybe atleast untill i walk in to my local pub!
  14. I would love one myself but just dont do enough big take downs to warrent one.........you could probably get one fabricated like kims and frans have done.....i especially like the idea of frans's mini version! but realistically its gonna cost around after purchasing a self tailing winch man enough around £700 mininum ,then its not ce marked....not garunteed or tested.and ive been fine with out one !
  15. so is the pig tail essential? im havin visions of building somthing simular but using the porta awrap instaed of the bollard supplied with the grcs,my groundy as spent time workin in oz and cant believe we dont use that sorta system more often but i aint spending 1500 on a gcrs when i can buy a harken winch for 500 and get the welding for free
  16. I love not doin council work...we had some proper **** jobs with north herts homes cleaning out junky dens gardens.once had a 7 year old try sell me crack poor fuckers to grow up in that ****...atleast he got one thing right and told us his dad was a c+nt...makes you realise how lucky you are!
  17. tip top high scale you hittin them targets! bewhere the dormant bud burst, ash love it!
