  5. Thing is I'm moving a load of walnut , yew and elm out of my work shop now , when you take in to consideration the rent of it being stored there its probably worth more as logs , if I had a saw mill now I would be making loads of fence panels and chucking them out at £40 a pop and they would be selling! 6. Juniper looks interesting when it's milled and carved as well! The juniper is in the middle. I was not overly impressed with alder in a wood I used to manage ,it grew to quickly dominating and killing off the other broad leaves planted , lots died off naturally falling and damaging the surviving trees of other species it had not smothered and a lot grew badly formed and didn't respond well to formative pruning rotting quickly and it suckered like crazy when thinning attempts where made, I would plant it but very sparingly if I had to design my own wood. 7. This thread has the most deranged title of any I have ever seen on this forum... And its poplar... probably white. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. Have a pair at the moment, had to take out the combi spanner holder for climbing and they are just starting to fall apart now at 6-7 months but at 99 you can't go wrong really. I will get 12 months out of gladiators but they usually are torn to pieces on the side I have a saw hooked on my harness. The tear proof material really makes not a great deal but they are ok I would still opt for the stretch air arborist or sipps progress over the gladiator though. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. Under ash trees in grass I have found them. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. Bugger!! That could of been a result. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. It rots fast though ! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. Lease hire is a good option for tax benefits but the machinery needs to be near new... I tried to a lease set up on a 26 year old mog chipper crane combo a few weeks back and it was refused on the grounds it was to old though so your limited. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. If you over load a screw gate krab ie tie to a tree and pull with a truck the gate will always face inwards, but you can still do the gate up if needed.. Just don't get it caught rigging as unlike a caritool that will snap it will drag you out of the tree but in those sort of situations you can still lock the gate if you have a line running past your saw side. 14. Oh and the belts !! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. Now it is your machine martin ... I imagine you will not be chipping the sort of crap like the previous owners that causes this sort of damage. change the blades after gravel drives or once a month other wise and you will easily get 600 hours out of bearings and fins mate. They are good machines !! Don't forget to change the anvil !! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. Very true... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. It is under timberwolf Finns and fly wheel bearings , sorry can't do a link. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. Search the forum, dean did a really good thread on rebuilding a 150 . They are bad mate! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. If you put 5 l of fuel a day through saws in a wood or spend the day running about with winch cable and chokers on a thinning job its hard work , if you have a defective 120ft poplar to dismantle or a 150 year old oak to reduce over hazards it's also taxing ... Cutting a few bits off garden pecker poles is a breeze and I would like to add any climber who does not make the people's life's on the ground easier or help when they are done needs sacking... On a whole I enjoy woodland work but it gets boring and repetitive after a week for me and I start to look forward to the easyness of Most day to day Arb instead. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. What problems have you had ? , can't be as flimsy as a 201 ... I've had a 540 since last august , dragging it around some Nasty stuff that would of usually snapped off a few 200t chain breaks and it's totally intact. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. My only problem is though mate the guy who owns the lock up is 20 metres away with wife and kids , my thought is I would not be able to forgive myself if they got hurt trying to do the right thing in the event of the alarm going off . these guys who did this have done us before with a load of steroid bulging freaks in broad day light. I'm quite sure they were there this time as I can't see how the tractor was moved. He seems very pro on me staying there at the minute so I that will be an option in future. 23. My insurance on paper looks great its just the anxiety of waiting to see what loss adjusters will do .. There is kit I don't have receipts for also that I have brought off friends. That's cool Martin ,it some how got back to another good friend who I have not spoken to in ages so we had a good natter and the more people that know the better as I'm sure this gear will resurface. A few more bits to I D the gear . The chipper had LED tail board with a battered rear end and slightly torn mud guard... Will try and confirm the serial number when I speak to orange plant who I brought it from.. Just paid it off last week as well! The 357xpg had a corner missing off the air box on the right hand side. The ms 150 had a 9mm hole drilled in the exhaust. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. Hey all just again a massive thanks for the offers of woodchippers saws and kit . To any one in south Cambs beds north herts be on the look out for a black mondeo estate it was a p reg but we think these plates where false. I'm still trying to get my head around the fact they knew exactly what to go for and where things where. This is what was on the chipper. The floor chain on axle. Saw and kit bins burnt through Some how they managed to move a tractor with no battery and the winch dropped out of the way in front of two bollards. Removed the gate at the entrance. Smashed the CCTV security lights and the lock on the front of the shed. Luckily I had stashed 3 saws on a different site but no lids one was 4 days old and I had changed the chipper blades the night before I'm really annoyed I had not taken my climbing kit home with me as there was a lot of stuff I had picked up at shows I can't find receipts for now. All in all this has been a massive kick in the balls and I'm finding it hard at the minute to find any motivation to carry on with my company despite every thing work wise and financially better than it has been, these scum are watching me sitting out side my house and following me to my work shop , following us to jobs and back to the work shop, if you chase them they disappear , the police won't do a thing and it seems like it won't end here. Any ideas tips for security please pm me . Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
