  1. Time for a little update, nothing stays the same for long! The whole 3 days of the easter weekend were spent in the workshop making a new winch bumper. Its made from a piece 0f 6x4 box section 10mm walled so is far stronger than anything avliable off the shelf. here is a pic of it in progress, Starting to fit it, after its had a holiday at the Galvanisers. Finished oops not quite one thing left the winch cam!
  2. I really couldn't describe gary as grumpy at all. Lots of new landys coming to arbtalk then, Ed,Chris,STS and even Cordwood should be winging his way south towards his new one as we speak! Hope we see some pics of all these trucks soon.
  3. Job done PM Sent!
  4. NO NO NO Don't do it:scared:! don't try running a TDV6 Disco on Veg oil! You'll have all manner of trouble, screw the warranty up an be in a right mess! I was chatting to a bloke from LR Assist recently I quote him "if you can afford a Disco/Rangie/sport you can afford to tax and fuel it!" i don't necessarily agree but its a reasonable point
  5. Jim your right the 290m is a farm saw, I've corrected my spelling above! I have a 260 It rips along with a 13" bar on. 361 is my next saw up.
  6. The 260 isn't an equal saw to a 357 more like a 346 sized saw. The MS 290 isn't classed as surgeons/foresters saw its in last years book as a semi pro saw/farm boss. 341/361 is comparable to the 357
  7. Stay married? That requires being Married! LOL! Stay single don't need to justify owt to anyone then! Hell fire its a nice bit of kit, saw it at billing a few years back sounds very nice!
  8. Don't go showing it off on here!!! I need it to stay with no bids while I finnish counting the contents of the piggy bank!:cussing:
  9. And I know of a Timberwolf TW150 that did that to!
  10. I wasn't having a go at you specifically either sir! just forums in general!
  11. I'm amazed just how bloody litreally you lot take some posts. My post said I'd like a crewcab to store clothing and snap bags didn't say anything about sticking the 088 on the backl seat!! and that if I only had to carry tools/kit I'd have a crew cab as the back wouldn't need to be as big! You can get an awfull lot of kit in a crew cab pick up with canopy.
  12. Only you can answer that one really! I often wish I had a crewcab, more space for storing snap bags and clothing etc would be most welcome. But it does depend on what you need to do I have to carry alot of timber about so need a full size pick up. If I was just carrying kit I'd definately go crewcab
  13. Perhaps the other driver should have checked his blind spot or indicated, perhaps the tractor driver could have pulled over, perhaps the Vdub could have stopped in bed this am and not gone to work! Hope you get the motor sorted mate.
  14. STS have you bought the TD5 drake had with the crane on? he had one with a little Hiab on it. I must have caught Gary in a good mood LOL! As a longish distance byer he was most helpful, His wife collected me from the station and bought all the paperwork so we could tax the motor on the way to collecting it. I've never heard a bad word against them or the DEfender centre at Stourbridge.
  15. My gaffer paid 500 + assesment for CS 30 and the same again for CS31!
  16. C'mon mate you know you want to make that call - You know you want to!
  17. 235's aren't that narrow for a landy! They are wider than standard fitment. Anacondas are a good tyre but as you say a tad aggressive for some jobs.
  18. I tend to agree but someone needs to tell Mercedes Benz! there are a fleet of Sprinter based Mewps around here with twin BFG Muds on the back! Its not good offroad
  19. What size tyres do you run on your 130?
  20. I'd go with a Sentri box I personally don't like van vault boxes.
  21. Well i run fat tyres! as do all the leccy board rovers around here. I find I they are great off road and are also better for stability when running loaded on the road, I can corner very hard if I want to not that I do all often. My works truck has puny narrows tyres they are awfull, but its horses for courses and no two people will chhose the same! I use BF Goodrich which in my humble oppinion are the best offroad tyre manufacturer but thats nother can of worms!
  22. We have a 8" tracked Jensen at work its very good, has variable track width and has a swing away/take off hopper goes through a very narrow gap. Down side is its a heavy lump to drag about but then I feel that kinda says well built. We have hired in the Timberwolf tracked 150 VTR found it to be a good machine with variable tracks but in my opinion doesn't carry the best of build quality but its a reasonable price and its a nice weight to be towing about, seems to benefit from the Kiss theory. We have also had this week the Timberwolf 190 tracked machine, I'm not keen on this one as it isn't variable track width, the hopper is a lot hire than that of the Jensen and the build quality is less but oviously thats reflected in its purchase price!
  23. i'd also enclose your environmental policy/assesment if your working in woodlands or SSSI's.
  24. Jay, I'd like to hear Peters opinion on that but I don't agree! The van would have to be plated at 2500kg Gross for you to tow a 1000kg chipper. If your pulled the ministry Should go on plated weights and you have the potential to exceed your licence
