Not arguing mate but not according to DVLA they say you are limited to 8250kg if you only passed a car test prior to 1/1/97 look at the link Combinations of vehicles where the towing vehicle is in subcategory C1 and its trailer has a MAM of over 750kg provided that the MAM of the combination thus formed does not exceed 12000kg and the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen mass of the towing vehicle. In simple terms yes but if you want to get technical here is the offical blurb Motor vehicles with a MAM not exceeding 3500kg having not more than eight passenger seats with a trailer up to 750kg.   3. Right here we go again! I've sat the B+E test being youngish! This isn't a new problem its nearly 11 years old a lot of people just pleaded ignorance a while for many years. B+E will let the driver drive a vehicle upto 3500kg and a trailer upto 3500kg. The test is 106 notes and not easy to pass it contains exactly the same manouveres and driving that the C+E test does its just in a smaller rig. When I booked my test I saw very Specific details regarding the vehicle and trailer required for taking the test look at these carefully otherwise it costs big time. John, I've looked into doing My C1 and thats roughly £1000 before I even look at C1+E as thats another test. hoping my current employer just bites the bullet and put me through C and C+E courses.

    I noticed no change in mpg with my BFG muds, however I do think they are worth a slight loss of mpg my last set were on for 65000 miles, makes them very good value for money!

    Ed, Depends on just how far you want to go, Jeremy fern, twisted performance and JE Engineering all offer pump tweaks for 300TDi's JE go one step further and offer a gas flowed head. My mates 300TDI has had the full JE treatment and an Alisport intercooler, He leaves me for dead! He can happily tow his 2tonne 26' caravan at 80mph, if it was legal of course. Thing to bear in mind is the ex utility rovers are very heavy to start with , due to all the added extras. Matt

    I'd conserve your old one for as long as you can in all seriousness. Somewhere I posted a lengthy thread about our problems granted its only 357's but they are utter #### (choose relevant expletive) we are now using 346's much smaller but far more reliable

    Ok I'll rephrase it go and buy a new 357, we have 12 at work 8 of which are under 2 years old and despite regulr 3 month dealer servicing still suffer carb problems are local husky dealer can't fix, its not just our lads either know of another localish shop thats refusing to sell new 357's till the problem has been sorted by Husky for good.

    Go and buy a 357XP use it for 10 mins and then you will be let down by a Husky!
  9. I'd go to London, whats more I'd leave the motor at home and go on the train, ok we are only 1.5hrs away on the train from here but its so easy and relatively cheap. We go on the first train after commuter time, its about 9am. Once in London if you Hotel is fairly central you don't need much public trasnport. We allways get a taxi from St pancras to hotel then walk to most attractions also use the big bus company open top buses to get about. I'd never consider driving into London for a weekend break its hassle,expensive and your wasting time you could be spending doing something far more fun!
  10. I'd avoid them all except the TD4. The TD4 is a cracking engine that can be chipped and remapped and will be a awsome little motor. Our old un was chipped and would leave any other freelander standing. Regardless of the names many people will call the freelander, they are very comfortable, economic and capable off road. there have been a few viscous coupling issues but they aren't to expensive to sort.
  11. I'm not aware of the head problem with the TD4's, I wouldn't touch the 180,000 mile one unless you now its history and don't plan on keeping it long.
  12. Not had a commercial, but we ran a TD4 freelander for 222,000 miles with only one breakdown a clutch master cylinder. They are very good vehicles, and coomercial versions are quite common amongst utility companies as managers/site agents vehicles so they crop up at the Brightwells 4x4 auctions quite a bit.

    I hire chippers as I don't want the investment at the moment, I hire a petrol 5" timberwolf most of the time, its simple does what it says on the tin and is reliable. What bugs me and this happend only last week is when people unfairly slag chippers off we have a 10" jensen at work tracked and a 6" Tinnywolf Tracked some noggin was banging on that the wolf easn't as good as the jensen!:cussing: Its never likely to be when its half the flippin size!

  18. we yse Amsteel blue winch ropes on outr trucks at work. Very very good and even aftter 12 months hard use they are still holding up well.   20. My kits in the landy also have foil blankets and survival bags, something you hardly ever see even in kits aimed at people working in remote locations. oh there is a whistle and torch one of them to, over kill maybe.
  21. I've got the HSE approved red cross 4 day first aid at work ticket and as far as first aid kits go, I've made my own up from experiances on courses. Some of the lads from the local parish council have just done a first aid course aimed specifically at foresters/arborists and they have raved about it ever since. ABC Response is just one of the companies offering that sort of course.

  23. AS the title I just wondered if there was alist of moderators for these boards? all the other forums I visit seem to have a list of mods and admin with their responsabilities. I can't find one on here is there a reason for this?

  25. LOL! no just spent to much time watching fireman sam, all he wanted for Christmas was a tow rope!! He's my best mates little lad, and I'm getting the blame for his outside digger driving/chainsaw antics!:scared:
